Oh, I see now. My apologies! I think it’s because it’s extracted from natural sources but still pretty pricey.

Levanthenon: Think I will stick to TEC. Thanks for the process notes.

xii: Glad you like it! I will give it a go when I have all the ducks in a rwo and some time.

Well, let's see: the vetiverol (what I was linking to) at Aftelier is $15 for 5ml and at PSH it is $12 for 5ml (which I pointed out in a follow up post). Hardly an earth-shattering difference!

I believe Mandy Aftel is well respected in the natural perfuming world. The BB may be priced highly but then I didn't link to that. But Aftellier might be a useful resource for some people's needs. As for relatively minor pricing differences; I think most people here have their wits about them. After all, I don't think it is my job to hold peoples hands like a nanny, and I'm sure most don't want that

Have not used Elemi until now and starting to experience it. As I see my suppliers carry tree types of it:

    - Elemi EO from destilation
    - Elemi CO2 Extract
    - Elemi resinoid
    - Elemi resin or ready tincture.

What is the difference and does it really matters? So far I have assumed that the resinoid is the best and sufficient. Or are two of them worth storing?

These three extractions have slightly different properties, pertinent to the extraction method types.

I would recommend to start with purchasing both EO and Resinoid. But you may also, like the CO2.

It's like cooking vs. ordering your meal. Advantages and disadvantages.

Elemi resin tincture is too messy. Also my concrete is, at least initially, of pourable quality because of the high essential oil to gums and minerals ratio. Hydro distillation of elemi resin leaves behind stone hard white mass. In the commercially available concretes I've investigated so far most of that stuff is included. It's quite readily soluble in alcohol so perfumers won't complain.
