Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    Hello!

This morning I dabbed Terre de Lumiere L'eau and then sprayed some Aqua Colonia Lime & Nutmeg as I felt I want a bit of the citrusy kick, too.

Good morning everyone As promised yesterday I'm wearing Shams oud today. On my skin the opening is quite spicy with pepper and saffron. I can also smell the oud and something woody. Probably cedar or vetiver. It has a rather transparent sweetness to it at this point. It has some sweetness, but is not that sweet. It also has a bit... Balsamic quality to it. Not sure what causes that. Anyway, have a great day everyone

    Everyone smells wonderful this morning!

I'm wearing Les Indemodables Musc des Sables (from a sample). It's quite unexpected - very powdery but not lipstick-y. Warm skin + powder puff. It reminds me of something, but I can't think what. Very, very interesting. Antoine Lie is the perfumer. Listed notes are Italian green mandarin, Indonesian patchouli Grand Cru, Ambergris tincture, Orris absolute Grand Cru, Benzoin, cardamom, cinnamon, musk.

We'll be warming up this weekend, with the heat really arriving next week. The humidity is already here. Ugh.

We're having Tropical Storm Bertha passing directly over us today, so more hot rain in store. I'm trying to counteract some of the humidity with Dune by Dior.

Yesterday my boss eagerly showed me her new bottle of a Frederic Malle scent that she was crazy about, one called 'Dans Mon Lit' by Bruno Jovanovic. I was shocked that I'd never heard of it, and that it was in a Malle bottle I'd never seen, one that was half frosted. It smelled of only lavender and rose. Then I noticed that when you shook it, sudsy bubbles formed in the liquid. Whaaat?

When I got home I looked it up and it turns out it's not perfume at all, it's a water-based linen spray. An SA at Bergdorf had sold it to my boss as perfume. Talk about ill-informed.

It's only 27 here, oddly enough. Cool but very damp. Our summer weather pattern is establishing itself, every day the forecast is:

    Warming in the morning
    Scattered Thunderstorms 2pm-8pm
    Clear evenings.

I love the summer, the storms and all.

I'm wearing 17 sprays of Osmanthe Yunnan. I have to dust and do yard work today.

    Hi, folks -

Well, it was cool when I got up this morning, but today's looking to go to 30-C or so here in Boston... My choice of Tom Ford Japon Noir is holding up in the heat better than I expected. Still a little too 'warm' for the weather, but it was perfect this morning and as long as I stay in the shade...

Japon Noir fragrance notes: Spices, Patchouli, Port wine, Amber, Jasmine, Leather, Vetiver.

    Hello all,

    My SOTD is Timbuktu.

I had to laugh at foxbins' 17 sprays. I don't actually count my sprays but I have grown extremely generous in my application during the past few months. I used to target my chest and inner wrists but now I move the bottle around while continuously spraying for a more diffuse and heavier application. I'm having fun with my perfume every day!

For Osmanthus, 17 sprays is not too extreme.

That was quite a sales story, cook.bot.
