Default What does Richard James Saville Row smell like?

I've always wondered what this fragrance smells like.
It was never available here but i've always wanted to try it.
Is it still in production? Would it be a safe blind buy?
An enquiring mind would like to know..
    thanks!

It is the same mold as compositions like Dia Man from Amouage and Arsene Lupin (Dandy) from Guerlain.

It is a very flowery fragrance based mainly on tuberose! which is normally used in female fragrances but this time joined by a suede like leather and tobacco as well which makes it completely unique imo and very complex. There are many other notes complementing this combo like rose, vetiver, amber, sandalwood, citruses and ginger.
    My Top '11':

    - Paco Rabanne: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - Antaeus (vtg)
    - Azzaro: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - Armani: AdG Profumo
    - Jacques Bogart: Furyo
    - Guerlain: Héritage (vtg)
    - Thierry Mugler: A*men
    - SA: Al Basel
    - D&G: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - YSL: Kouros (vtg)
    - VC&A: Pour Homme

It’s like one of those 1980’s aldehydic floral chypres with that kind of dirty, slightly skanky edge to it. Definitely masculine, and if some niche company released it as a sort of ‘throwback” fragrance it would probably receive high marks and garner some attention (something along the lines of Bogue MAII). It smells like a fragrance from a bygone era but at the same time it feels updated, kind of like how Dior Jules 2016 smells of the past but has a crisply blended, updated feel to it.

I’d say if you like this kind of scent it’s a very good choice.

I might have a bottle of this lying around....I’m not sure. I bought two a couple years ago when I could grab it for $35 because I knew it was hard to find and had heard good things about it. But I quickly realized it wasn’t for me and decided to sell them off. I know I sold one, I’ll check to see if I still have the other.

EDIT: Well, I just checked—it looks like I sold both of them. Sorry, I thought I might had one on hand for you.

A subtle floral with hints of suede. I find it little too quiet, performs poorly on skin and frankly speaking somewhat undeserving of its hallowed reputation. Affordable though.

I agree. Tuberose centered, nothing special. A lot of appraisal from a specific basenoter in the past made me blind buy 2 bottles when they were selling cheap. One bottle was sold the day after, the second one is still sealed for years and thanks to this thread came in mind again and will soon be sold.

I think it's bit of a floral mess, actually. Too much going on and it lacks direction and purpose. I tried hard to like it, but never really did.

I'm the odd one out. I like it enough and consider it a very well blended composition safe for the office.

I am amazed on how this one is seen on BaseNotes. Some of my friends who are not into fragrances at all and other who are very picky seemed to like it a lot. It's a nice, fresh and soft fragrance. In an office environment where you work in a closed space with different people, it would be great. It isn't loud, but it projects enough when you are close to someone and they can smell it. Not offensive at all. I can see people being "meh, ok, whatever" about it, but never "I hate this stuff".

I also bought this a few years ago when it was going cheap. I think I paid £20 for the 50ml bottle. Good deal. Wore it to the very last drop.

I personally think is smells incredible and agree it would work well for the office... or anywhere else for that matter.

I personally think it's an excellent fragrance. A floral with a combination of subtle nuances that amount to make it a masculine composition. Certainly safe for the office and I've had many compliments wearing it. I've been through a few bottles so far as so easy to wear.

Have always been curious about this scent myself. It doesn't appear available many places.
I think it is still produced. FragranceX has it.

Also hard to sample. Sounds good to me, but overall sense is may be too light for my tastes.

This one is hard to describe, as it's pretty unique. Mostly tuberose, leather and tobacco, with a "chalky" feeling.
The only fragrance I have been vaguely reminded of is ELdO Vierges et Toreros, with a leather/tobacco accord here in place of the metallic/leather accord in VetT.

Loving tuberose is mandatory in order to appreciate this fragrance. In case you have never smelt a tuberose-centric fragrance, it's a very risky blind buy. It is kind of office safe, but for sure without overspraying, as it may become weird (and even borderline nauseating if overpsrayed).

Love Saville Row...definitely a floral, aldehydes composition. Dare I say it has a very pleasant "dryer sheet" vibe to it? Not sure if anyone would think that's a good thing, but I've smelled some pretty great dryer sheets in my life, obviously! LOL...this is a wonderful fragrance in my book...

It smells like sueded tuberose and pencil shavings to me. I quite like it.

It's sold out on the UK website and not even listed on the US one. So, who knows?

EDIT: I looked again and the 100ml is available, but the 50ml is sold out. So, I'm guessing it hasn't been discontinued.

    Richard James Savile Row

Juicy citrus and ginger for a couples of minutes.
Refreshing bitter green and tea astringency.
    Light and bright. Slight sweetness.

Well blended aromatic coriander, sneeze pepper, indolic flowers and rose.
The tuberose is struggling to surface.
It'll make it in 10 minutes.
Some cooling camphor note is sneaking around.

    30 minutes
Dry and earthy suede-patchouli, dusty woodiness, musk and a little bit of resinous sweetness. Some mint, probably from vetiver, and some bitter inkiness from oakmoss.

    Smooth and elegant.
