Default The Perfume of Happiness: The most uplifting perfume ever made

    Folks,

I would never engage in music therapy or chromotherapy, and I don't believe in healing crystals. I am also skeptic about the healing power of incense. But I do believe that some perfumes can induce a state of happiness, a state of well being in us. A few perfumes can even induce a kind of euphoria, excitement, exhilaration in me, such as the heady Rose-Orris accord in Hammam Bouquet. I believe that heady fragraces can be exhilarating.

But I digress. What I really want to know is your opinion about fragrances that make you happy. Those fragrances that when you wear them, you feel that life is good and you can't help but smile. Please tell us One, and only one fragrance that truly induces a state of happiness in you.

I vote for Acqua di Parma Colonia, the original one, created in 1916. I think it is the most uplifting perfume ever made.

I know I am going to regret saying this, but for me it's..... [*wince*]..... Aventus. It always just smells happy to me.

Would I ever wear it? Probably not. But still, it smells happy.

Orange+amber perfumes are just so uplifting and happy, Elixir des Merveilles is my favorite of this combo it smells like the happiest event is just around the corner! I even have a mini necklace of this one which I smell just to feel happy when I'm out of my mood!

Le Mat by Mendittorosa is another happy perfume, but in a different lazy-day kind of way!

Came here to mention the original Eau des Merveilles. Nice to see that a flanker has been already posted

From my collection, I would select Sel de Vetiver. It transports me to a happy place of solitude, calm and peacefulness.

I thought of AdP Colonia when I read the thread title. Happy to see others feel the same way.

    Great thread.

I wouldn’t argue with Colonia, as I own it and love it. Not a major departure but I’d also add its flanker, Assoluta. Uplifting and happiness inducing for me, like the original.

I find fresh neroli dominated scents like Neroli Portofino and Neroli Woods extremely uplifting. Neroli captivates me, so not surprising.

I think the new Signature Line version of Beau de Jour is a good shout, too. And not a freshie but I’ve always found Héritage edt elicits a real happy response from me for some reason.

Since ADP Colonia is mentioned, would add almost any citrus fragrance and also the ones with a very strong maybe not just uplifting but also relaxing lavender/Mediterranean hint.
For instance Caron pour un Homme or even more pronounced in most of the male/unisex fragrances by l'Occitane.

Mostly fragrances with cheerful citrusy tops light florals over a mossy /woodsy backbone. Addition of white/grey ambergris would be a bonus.

    Among my ‘cheerleaders’ :-
    Bortnikoff Amber Cologne
    Sonoma Scent Studio Jour Ensoleille
    Le Jardin Retrouve Citron Boboli
La Via del Profumo Holy Water
    Armani Eau Pour Homme

I love Colonia also. If you can try it, there is a fantastic Body Lotion for the scent - very richly scented and it makes the scent last longer on skin.

My 'happy' fragrance (in my wardrobe): Mugler Cologne by Thierry Mugler. My 'happy' fragrance (NOT in my wardrobe): Calyx by Prescriptives.

First you insult Jicky; now this! Just kidding I do agree about the healing and transportive power of scents and have since I was very young.

Colonia and citrus are always great but for me:

    1 Million especially the opening...
Fruity ones that make me think of summer:
    Zen for Men
    Diesel Fuel for Life
    JOOP! Homme

and sometimes there’s an element of happiness with some nostalgia and I would list Immense Pour Homme by Scherrer, Salvador Dali Laguna (both M & F) for that; plus certain vetiver scents too.

I challenge anyone to smell Costume National Homme and not get a happy vibe. If I want to give myself the best chance to be in a positive/good mood and not care about the little negatives, I would spray this one. Dried fruits, almost like a trail mix fruit along with woods and a very light clove/camphor thing that gives it a soft cloudy vibe. Such a happy fragrance.

I own several scents that I think of as uplifting or cheerful (mostly greens and spices), but only one that truly makes me happy: the pure green joy that is Ninfeo Mio by Annick Goutal.
