Default The bottle that fits/feels best in your hand

Which bottles are the best fit for your hand, feel the most comfortable to use?

My best fits hands down (no pun intended) are the 75ml of Chanel Les Exclusifs and Guerlain’s current 100 ml bee bottle—fit like a glove! I just wish they were refillable to be able to decant from a larger bottle.

Which bottles do you just love picking up? Illustrative photos most welcome.

I can't think of any specific bottles, but the easiest/ nicest bottles to hold, for me, are (as with your favorites) about 75 or 100ml in size and taller than they are wide - not any obscure shapes.

Most l'Occitane bottles with their both rounded and slightly flattened shape, same with the (although slightly larger) Floid aftershave ones-in both cases very ergonomic altogether

Stash by SJP & Ambre Passion by Laura Mercier. Both have a pleasingly heavy glass base & a nice "heft" to them. The Laura Mercier bottle in particular has a very attractive & ergonomic cap.

Oh, yes, the cap is important. The magnetic cap is a plus for the Chanel bottle. And coming to think of it the Guerlain bee bottle has a good added feature too, the best spray of any I know, a fine mist rather than individual spritzes.

For me - Gengis Khan perhaps, but in reality don't have problems of discomfort with any of my bottles.

I know for me it is not the original Lolita Lempicka - the apple bottle doesn’t feel natural in my hand at all and pushing down that tiny skinny stem to spray the fragrance is rather annoying.

Maybe my infusion d’iris absolue? Stunning gold bottle and very practical to hold and spritz.

You’re lucky, Sheik Y, to have so many that work well for you. I find the majority of bottles awkward in some way.

Areej Le Doré 1st & 3rd collections’ rounded bottles feel snug in my palm.

Even better are the 30 ml bottles from their 4th collection:-

I feel lucky Fiveoaks. I used to not pay much attention to the bottle design when I first bought fragrances but always unconsciously enjoyed using certain bottles more than others. I have a very old CK be bottle and although the perfume inside is long finished it is actually one of my favourite bottles. What is great about the design aside from the smooth ergonomic curves is that it has the slightest of concave curves toward the centre so when you hold the bottle it actually draws your fingertips and thumb into one side and the palm-side of your knuckles to the other. This in particular is a very subtle design detail that makes it extremely satisfying to use. I hope you find some others you enjoy using more.

Newer Chanel Egoiste, Chanel Platinum Egoiste 100ml bottles they fit nice in the hand. The Chanel Allure Homme 100ml bottles do too, I also like the new taller Guerlain 100ml bottles they are easy to hold. Now my favorite to look at and hold when applying would be Azzaro Azzaro Pour Homme, Ralph Lauren Polo the colored glass is nice!

A number of the bottles mentioned above are kind of oval shaped. I'm guessing that square one could work if one's hand is big enough to envelop it.

One bottle that is big and bulky at 100 ml is Angel EDT yet strangely enough it is comfortable to handle and use because of the cinched-in middle, which provides a good grip. It's always a little surprising when I pick it up and it works.

Diptyque's 75 ml oval bottles are palm sized and therefore easy to handle, whereas their 100 ml bottles are too large and bulky in comparison. Now, if only the nozzles were easier to see or stayed positioned for spraying...

Juliette Has A Gun bottles feel just perfect for my hand. They're also very soft and lovely to the touch and it's a very rare occasion where a 100 ml bottle is comfortable in my hand - I usually prefer smaller sizes for easier handling. I'm sure I'll get at least one, maybe more for my collection someday (I'm not in a hurry though... but my birthday is soon, so who knows what I'll choose to get myself as a present) - I like several scents quite a lot, but I have to admit it's the case where the presentation and aesthetics wins me over with this house so much, maybe even more than the scents themselves. o_O (I'm talking about their regular bottles, not the exclusive collection.)

Speaking of the bottles I own, Guerlain Bee bottles (both 75 and 50 ml) are probably the most comfortable. They fit into my hand nicely, the sprayers are generous and they look lovely next to each other.

Also, pretty much all bottles that are taller and sleeker, and more rounded than square are on the comfortable side, and smaller bottles are more comfortable than bigger ones. Pretty much all 30 ml sizes are very comfortable to me despite their design. For example, my 30 ml Lolita Lempicka in the new bulkier apple-shaped bottle feels very lovely in my hand, and I quite often pick it up just to hold it. My 100 ml Moschino's Cheap and Chic I Love Love is also very comfortable despite its size (I'm sure I'd like the 50 ml bottle even more, but as they cost absolutely the same in discounters, I'm still opting for the bigger one).

I also find all the pen-sprays and travel sizes very comfortable to use - they're easy to pick and to handle, feel comfortable and as a bonus are easy to carry around, so I always have some.

I too love the Chanel Les Exclusif's in the 75 ml size.

The 200 ml clunker is a different story though; I pretty much drop those every single time I use them. My first run in with those was at the Chanel boutique where I was being skilfully ignored by a snooty SA right up until the point where I almost dropped a 200 ml bottle of 31 Rue Cambon on my toes. They are also impossible to decant without getting hand cramps.

I do appreciate a fine sprayer and a magnetic cap as well.

My other favourite bottles are Hiram Green's. They look and feel wonderful.

Rounded shapes or bottles with rounded edges feel the nicest, with 30ml or 50ml tending to be comfortable sizes for my hands:

    - Vintage Poison 50ml. Perfect shape for my hand.

    Dior poison.jpg

    - Estee Lauder Private Collection 50ml. I like the gently fluted sides; my grip feels firm and stable with this bottle.
