    Default Bought Bvlgari Aqva today

Just came back from the store and i couldn't pick a fragrance! Almost bought Jaipur edp it was a steal but i ended up with Aqva! I like this fragrance because it is a "dark" aquatic. It is not bright or aimed to please and that's why im drawn to it. It is thicker and deeper than other aquatics i think... I find it to be quite classy for this type of fragrance..
Fingers crossed that it has decent performance.
I discovered this through a friend who wore nothing else and called it the perfect office scent.
    Yikes!

    p.s.
    (bvlgari has the nicest packaging).

I own the older bottle which has Bvlgari written as well on the bottle instead of only Aqua. It is very oceanic and dark indeed and a wonderful unique aquatic imo.
I personally like the Marine version a little bit more even which is more seaside like instead of oceanic.
I wrote about both versions because of the Marine the older is significantly stronger and richer than the current bottle imo (I own both versions).
I never smelled the newer Aqua though.

As said for the Marine version it has, at least for me as I own both versions and the older one is definitely richer and longer lasting which is not related to maceration or something like that.

So far, got always decent to downright good performance from this one (at least by personal and thus quite high projection/longevity standards), though just during each separate testing alone of possibly different versions of this fragrance, over longer periods of time and intervals between each testing.

This one only smells mildly like rotting shellfish.
For the full low-tide, rotting sea life experience one should get Marine

    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

You made a wise choice, IMO.

A strange story about this one. I forget where it was, but I was walking through the fragrance area in a store several years ago and I sprayed BA on the back of my hand and kept walking. Several hours later, I continued to really enjoy the smell, especially the later dry down.

So I wound up ordering a bottle of it.....and to this day, I have never opened the box! I have 2 or 3 other fragrances that are the same way. I just never have opened them and in my closet they sit.

How close is Aqva Marine to Oud Minerale?

I've never tried Oud Minerale. It's the poseidonia seaweed note that particularly triggers me in Marine, although i can also get rotting, metallic shellfish with higher doses of calone in any scent.

Congratulations. Aqua is good stuff. After trying lots I have found I dislike about 98% of "aquatics" but this one I really like,

A note on longevity.... ymmv.... but.... I got the after shave balm in the small tube by mail. When it arrived, it's in a plastic tube, which was packed in a clear plastic box, which was packed in bubble wrap and then in a cardboard box. As soon as I picked the box up before opening anyhing... damn!!! this smells good. Nuclear projection!!! Then I would wear it and it would be gone in no time. Later I found the same with the cologne, seemed really strong but would fade out. Turns out for me it's one that can easily lead to the anosmic effect.... Spray too much too close to nose and it goes away. Spray it elsewhere and it lasts all day. You may not get this, but if you don't get the longevity you want then try either spraying your shirt or better yet only spray arms/wrists or other places but not neck/chest......

You're killing me!!! Maybe we need a perma thread listing each thing that is reformulated so that the biggest fans can rush out and buy up the old stock before the price goes up!!!

So I checked and I have the old bottle for Aqua. But I also have a small one that is the new style, I only got it as it was partly used and extremely cheap, but had no idea it might be different. !$!#$ my list of "backups to buy" keeps getting bigger....

You said the Marine was reformulated. So does it have the same thing where it says Bulgari on the old ones and doesn't on the new ones? Does this hold for any of the other flankers?

Never understood the connection to something rotten or dead fish in Aqva or Aqva Marine. The Marine is to my nose a fresher (less salty as well) and more floral take on the original with grapefruit and watery freshness on a woody base with a nice blended seaweed note.
Ever smelled real dead fish? Trust me, if it would smell like that it would not sell that well

Aqva is a great fragrance no question there. I like the Marine a little bit more but if I couldn't get that one I'd be perfectly happy with the original Aqva even in this newer formula.
