Thread: Which oud?

    Default Which oud?

    Hello everybody.

I trend to stay away from the real skanky ouds.

Looking to add two for the winter/ fall. One of them I prefer to be office cafe if that is even possible with oud

The ones I really like and have sampled.

The most real oud of the bunch. MFK oud

The one longest on my list. MFK - oud satin mood

The sweetest on my list. Roja- sweetie Aoud

The most safe I think. Mizensir - perfect oud. Did not know untill december last year that Albertp moreillas had his own line...

My most recent Discovery Blend Oud - Al Emarat

    Suggestions?

    Honey Oud by Montale perhaps.

Oud can certainly work for office, especially if one does not overspray.

I find oud satin mood a bit too strong in the drydown. among office friendly ones, I'd count Cartier oud and by Kilian pure oud (which are plain ouds), and Montale Aoud lime (with citrus).

Mfk oud and sweetie oud from your list.

Another oud one is Aoud by roja, excellent rose oud. Very safe.

Quite like Gucci Intense Oud and Dunhill Icon Absolute for 'office/friendly' oud.

I enjoy and own MFK's Oud extrait, find it to be just right, did you try the EdP or extrait b/c they are different.

A few I've really gotten into the last few months, though I've owned some of these for a while...

Armani Prive Oud Royal - I can see this passing for office friendly
Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade - Pretty strong rose/oud, but very smooth and alluring
Initio Oud for Greatness - this is more your Western oud and is quite a crowd pleaser
ADP Colonia Oud - another oud that is great all around
Xerjoff Alexandria II - a great oud/lavender combination. unfortunately, my wife thinks it's too strong so I've decided to sell it
Bond No. 9 New York Oud - this was one of my first ones, but I've gone a bit tired of in the last year or so
ROJA ouds - his line of ouds are quite great without getting animalic. in the end, i actually enjoy just the regular aoud from the line, though your sweetie aoud is quite good as well.

Since you're looking for 2, I would recommend the first two on my list. Good luck and hope you find what you're looking for!

Among the pricier options, LM Black Oud (quite clean, with a citrus-floral harmony almost reminding of the Eau d'Hermes line) and also the ouds by Memo Paris-fairly powerhouse and beast mode performance yet for some reason still not sweaty/pungent/skanky.
Currently wearing: 1881 Amber by Cerruti

New York Oud is not very skanky and IMO office safe.

re: what's a skanky oud, most would consider stuff like Dior Leather oud or Montale Oud Cuir d'Arabie.

Thanks! My Canadian vocabulary associates "skank" with, um, other activities, none of which would normally be associated with an "animalistic" scent. Both those frags that you've listed sound great, though.

I strongly suggest Cartier Oud & Rose and Oud & Santal.

For something cheaper, Mancera Black to Black. It has some Mancera magic in the drydown.

Those Cartier are solid suggestions for his purpose. For a winter application I suggest Cartier Oud Radieux as well, but just by a nose over the others. More warmth and character for the shorter days.
