Default Fragrance for a young doctor

Hi I am quite new to the fragrance world and I am looking for a scent for a young doctor in a hospital setting. It should be something classy, clean and not very sweet. I would prefer something woody+citrusy or perhaps soapy. I have seen people recommending Tom Ford - Grey Vetiver as a good doctor smell, but it smells too mature for me and I found that i generally dont like the vetiver based fragrances. Any ideas?

    Hmm,

Often hospitals and medical clinics are a bit frowny on health care staff or providers that wear obvious fragrance/perfume. Your selection is a bit of a tricky one. You might want to consider a 'fresh' fragrance that doesn't smell spicy or too herbal/green. Such fragrances will get your patients complaining that they are 'allergic' to your fragrance. Fresh fragrances tend to do better such as citruses and synthetic soapy scents.

I think a fragrance like say, a lightly applied Nautica Voyage is very fresh, light and is unlikely to offend. Dior Eau Sauvage (not Sauvage, it's "Eau" Sauvage) is a classic citrus, as is Acqua di Parma Colonia. Those are very light and inoffensive.

    Voyage D’Hermès EDT
    Terre D’Hermès Eau Très Fraîche
    Eau de Cartier...
It will depend on what kind of patients you will work, in which health conditions they are in general, if they get nauseated easily, in which hospital ward you will work... I could recommend some more depending on some more information. I find the ones listed above subtle and pretty neutral and inoffensive, perfect for this kind of environment. Voyage and Eau de Cartier are somehow classy to my nose and can transmit a professional message.

I'm not sure this is a good idea....maybe something as an aftershave. So it may not be as strong.

I'll second the Terre d'Hermes - lineup of fragrances. They can be very 'in the air' and light, not over powering and fresh. Unlikely to offend unless way oversprayed. Just keep the sprays light and these are very low-profile scents.

Apart from so many great ideas mentioned, also adding Lalique White and Azzaro pour Homme l'Eau, both office friendly while also not very mature/old smelling

Thank you for all the replies. I already tried several ones you mentioned in the past. What do you guys think about Bleu de Chanel EDP?

Bleu De Chanel EDP is a excellent choice, try the Parfum if you haven’t already.

Try Bleu de Chanel Parfum. It projects a little less than the EdP, sits a bit closer to the skin, but is a deeper, richer, more opulent scent. The reduced projection is good for a your setting, while the deeper, richer scent is more enjoyable for you.

Perhaps something that exudes a white lab coat aura, Try Prada L'homme or Dior Homme Eau.

The Parfum is an excellent pick, but I think it's louder and projects better than the EDP. A much better scent, IMO.

I will try the parfum for sure. I sampled only EDP so far. I read that the parfum is quite heavy and some people refer that they get headaches from it which is highly undesirable considering the enviroment.

Chanel Pour Monsieur is an excellent suggestion.

Its a gorgeous fragrance - absolutely gorgeous, one of the best fresh male scents ever made (I prefer the EdT Concentree) - and as my friend Bavard has said - it is always careful not to offend. You can spray to your hearts content and it will never be too loud or offensive.

    Eau Sauvage, Pour Monsieur.

Both are light, citrusy, and refined.

I would agree on this one. This is one is a nice clean conservative scent that hovers close to the skin.

I'd go with the original Prada Luna Rossa or maybe Prada Amber aka Man. I'd consider Guerlain Homme L'eau Boisee and Mugler Cologne as well. Some other frags to consider, Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche or Allure Homme Sport. Versace Pour Homme, Givenchy Pour Homme, Bvlgari Pour Homme.

Unless you're a private practitioner, it probably doesn't matter if you are a doctor or not because you won't be permitted to wear perfume in a medical setting. It's usually against policy. Therefore, the sky is the limit because you'll likely only be wearing it in your off time.
