    Default swiss arabian al basel

Al basel is missing from the directory and there is not too much information about this scent.
It seems like a nice cologne for the summer. any opinion or reviews are welcomed

    No one use this frag?
Is it blind buy worthy since it isn't available here for testing

Own and love it after having blind bought it about a year ago. It is now even in my Top 11 and also own a back up bottle of this gem.
To me it is a very complex and difficult to describe fragrance as it is a mix of a lot of things. It has a certain freshness because of the lemon and sage, masculinity because of the leather, patchouli and cardamom, a smooth sweetness because of the cinnamon, amber and praline. All this you smell in one when you have sprayed this on. Not to be compared with anything else imo, very long lasting but not screaming at all, though the projection/sillage is above average first 3 hrs. As said, very masculine and hard to dislike imo. Please do not take serious the last Fragrantica review which talks about bleech and ambroxan while both are (of course) NOT in this fragrance at all. No clue where the guy gets this nonsense from tbh.....I do think though that the complexity of this fragrance cause the very mixed reviews I read about it.
I love this stuff to bits from first sniff and still do; really MY kind of fragrance! YMMV.......
    My Top '11':

    - Paco Rabanne: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - Antaeus (vtg)
    - Azzaro: Pour Homme (vtg)
    - Armani: AdG Profumo
    - Jacques Bogart: Furyo
    - Guerlain: Héritage (vtg)

    - SA: Al Basel
    - D&G: Pour Homme (vtg)

That is fine to hear and I really hope you will like/love it as well!
I kindly asked Derby if he will chime in as well as he also blind bought it due to my recommendation and told me he really liked it and hope he still does!

Here I am! Bought this solely on my friend Slayerized's recommendations, as our tastes often overlap, and I must say I'm not disappointed - it's unique stuff and doesn't remind me of anything else I own (which is increasingly difficult to say!).

Slayer describes it perfectly in my opinion. The only aspect I 'initially' disagreed on was the mention of sweetness as my nose just didn't pick up on this at first. After many wears I now get this and the complexity is what I think possibly distracts the nose - there's a lot going on! It's spicy and smoky yet smooth and has a subtle sweetness underlying it all. It is undeniably fresh too but in a very different way to what most of us would regard a 'fresh' fragrance.

I would recommend it to anyone looking for something different or hard to define yet very wearable and somewhat satisfying. Great stuff...!

Thanks for chiming in Derby! Yes the sweetness is not prominent indeed as very smooth but it's there.
It also has a smokey vibe like you described which I forgot to mention! Complex stuff.....

Glad to read your enthusiastic review.
I wonder why this frag doesn't get more attention since it seems quite unique for a fresh scent.

I think it was discontinued for a while, as in the Fragrantica section this is mentioned under 'The Discontinued Section', then produced again but first of all you won't find this in shops/dpt. stores and secondly there are other fragrances of Swiss Arabian promoted better and therefor more well known (e.g. Shaghaf Oud, Oud Abyad, Al Ghutra, Oud Aswad, Edge).
