Default Blue de Chanel vs Dior Sauvage, Who did it best?

Which line of fragrances do you prefer and why?
I personally prefer the Bleu line by far, and find it to be much higher in quality.

I like how the ambroxan is done in Bleu de Chanel EDP, to me it comes across warm, soft and inviting, opposed to the ambroxan/musky accord in sauvage which comes across to me as sharp, metallic, cold.

I also find that Bleu comes across more refined & nuanced, to me it seems like there is quite a bit more going on in the background, to me it really smells like an expensive top of the line fresh fragrance, while Sauvage to me straight up smells like a higher quality interpretation of a male hygiene product, sauvage doesn't smell like a luxury product, and there doesn't seem to be much going on in the background, it just smells reminiscent of chemicals within the same vein as those used in deodorants, body-sprays, and shower gel. Some days it reminds me of a highschool locker room, the combined smell that lingered in the air from aerosol sprays, deodorant, and shower gel as about 50 students freshen up after gym.

What are your opinions and why?
    Thank You.

BdC. I'm a fan of the early EDT. Sure, there are some obvious aromachemicals present throughout the fragrance, but they're well blended with depth a nuance that other "blue" fragrances often lack.

I don't wear either but I would rather wear Sauvage than BdC, just because I think BdC is one of the most boring fragrances ever.
Don't get me wrong it isn't a bad scent at all - but there's nothing to me that stands out and makes it interesting in some way.
Sauvage has much more character though it's that obnoxious.

    Honestly, I think Sauvage.

Particularly when you take all 3 from each.

I like BdC. They deserve credit for very much staking 'new' ground. But in terms of who did it better? Sauvage, for me. And it's different enough to not be considered derivative of BdC, either - it's as much about Aventus as it is BdC.

Own and like both but prefer the Chanel as it performs better on my skin.

Sauvage is for sure more unique, it creates a strong scent memory as well, to an average person it's unforgettable, when they smell it they will think "Oh yeah this is the exact fragrance I smelled 3 weeks ago at a nightclub".

Have you ever done something just twice, but the event was so memorable that someone told you "You always do that"?
Sauvage is so memorable, that an average person will create false memories of smelling it everywhere, on nearly everyone, when in fact they may only know or have known 1 person who wears it regularly and have smelt it a few times randomly in public.

Bleu de Chanel is a generalist fragrance with class and refinement enjoyed more by enthusiasts

Sauvage is the bEaSt MoDe DaWg of the designer world that sells more because it speaks to base instinct.

I agree. Unpopular opinion, but I like both. But, gun to my head, I'd choose BDC.

I don't like either one, both are in the same boat imo.

The classics from both Chanel and Dior are much better as well as stuff modern picks like Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche and Dior Homme and Homme Intense.

Pretty dead on for me, though I have yet to pick up a full bottle of any of the Dior line, so my vote has already been cast.

I've never found these 2 even remotely similar, so I struggle to compare them side to side as to which I prefer. I own and love both the Chanel (Bleu - EDT, EDP & Parfum) & the Dior (Sauvage EDT & EDP) but I don't wear them one in place of the other.
My current top 10 (subject to change) in no particular order:

Dior Sauvage is more risky, more daring and IMO, Bleu de Chanel is, of course, "nice" but it is boring. Sauvage has a tad of a bite and is more creative.

    Sauvage is a chemical bomb.

I'm not a fan of either, but I couldn't wear Sauvage if you paid me. It's not just that I dislike it, though I do. It's that I find it painful to wear because it smells so harsh once the top notes fade.

I kind of think along these same lines. I personally don't like either, but Bleu de Chanel gets more respect. It is solid but boring to me.
Sauvage is just unthinkable for me. But I'm "mature" so if you love it, you can just dismiss my old guy opinion.

I totally agree with you. They are not alike. If they had different bottle colors (maybe if Sauvage came in an amber-orange-brown bottle to go with the desert theme of the marketing), we would not be comparing them!!

BdC for me. While quite synthetic smelling, it was a well done, unique scent. Flankers also quite nice - albeit not different enough to justify releasing.

I have only tried one of the Dior Sauvage line - the one that came out first. It was a ghastly chemical mess on me. Zero refinement. Absolutely nothing redeeming. Smelled like Chernobyl pond water. Perhaps one day I will try the other two, but I am in no hurry.
