Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. Today I'm synching with Chanel Gabrielle from my sample.

Waiting for beer'o'clock to arrive. We are having a National holiday on Monday, so a long weekend is ahead. My parents are planning to visit me, and maybe we can go visit some nearby towns and lakes together. That's the joy of having a car. I never felt that I would want to learn to drive and public transport + my own feet were always enough (I feel I'm too anxious, too absent minded and, let's put it like that, geographically challenged - I am able to get lost between two trees - to not be a true road hazard), but now I'm starting to reconsider.

I'm also feeling a bit anxious because a friend asked me to do a presentation/lecture/workshop on writing for her work teammates and I agreed because I decided it's good to do things you're afraid of. It's on Tuesday. So many regrets. I know there's a few things I can show or tell them as I've been (proof)reading other people's texts and making them better every day for the past seven years, but public speaking is not my strongest skill. At least we're doing this in a pretty casual bar setting over some beer. I just need to stop procrastinating and just make a good plan how to do this in an engaging way... And somehow do this over the long weekend.

    Wishing everyone a nice weekend!

I'm in sync with Coco Mademoiselle EDP Intense by Chanel. This is my go to "fun" scent. I've been reaching for it quite a bit lately, a wonderful antidote to all the serious, sad things happening in the world right now - an instant spirit uplifter!

    Happy Friday all! Stay safe.

    Morning all!

Clockwork, good luck with your presentation, & enjoy your holiday weekend!

l have the day off, & few errands to run, before hopefully finding time to potter in the garden.

l'm wearing Neil Morris's Manipur on one arm & Black Orchid on the other, for comparison, as l suspect there may be similarities in the drydown.

Planning to join in on the synch this evening...

    .
Manipur was really nice, I strongly recommended this one for Jon to try since it shared similarities to a Creed (Windsor/Royal Mayfair) imo.

Jon, I was actually considering a decanter bottle of Sous Le Vent recently but the deal turned bad and I had to walk away from it.

It's Chanel synch day but I am afraid I'm not a huge fan of the house.
I much prefer Guerlain and YSL. For some reason I find Chanel scents
don't tug at my heart strings and are a bit too haughty and lacking in warmth
for my taste, although I have yet to try the much-loved Bois des Iles. Maybe I
need to retest some of them and give them another chance (pun intended!)

I do, however, have a small sample of
Bel Respiro so will wear that. Chanel does green.

    Good morning/night, all:

Tonight I had two goes at a new eyeshadow palette. First try was a fail; second was considerably more successful, and something I wouldn’t mind being seen wearing in public, but it has a luscious seafoam shade that I wanted to somehow include with a teal-ish blue and a reddish purple shimmer shade and some blueish glitter in the inner corner. I wanted Studio 54 Mermaid, but things turned out a little more grey/blue than I hoped for. I never know how things are going to work until I try blending them together. I feel tempted give it another go tomorrow, but now I have documented it, and it seems like time to move on. Maybe i’ll use the same palette tomorrow but try something completely different. It has 14 good shades (I think), a nice mix of textures and colors. Not bad for a 10 dollar Hard Candy palette from WalMart.

My sample of Candy Yum Yum (naff name) arrived in the mail today, and yes I will have to have some. It’s like a woodsy guava, not nearly as floral and peachy like Calyx, but not like candy either. It’ll serve me well for carefree unserious summer use, when I’m in the mood for something with no florals but also no vanilla, like days when I’m wearing a brilliant chartreuse and/or fuchsia tunic, neon nails, and cutoffs (otherwise those are usually Beyond Paradise days. I ended up layering them, and it was awesome. I can’t wait for the sample of My Heroine: rumor has it that it’s a really dark leathery incense that the young girls don’t really like, so I will likely love it, too. That would make 5 for 5. The house of Estee continues to Hoover up my bank account. I want to buy other perfumes, but I have a bad case of Collector Fever that won’t quit until I have all 5.

With the exception of No22, I'm with you. My husband is a fan though, so I always have a small collection. Was reading through the newly resurrected Bois des Iles thread and thinking about that one again, but I think I've tried it twice and not been taken. I really want to be, for some reason, but like you again, it lacks a certain warmth to me. Cuir de Russie, too. I learned early on that I like Caron, even in its current state, but I really don't have any house preference when it comes to what I'll actually purchase.

Heh, the revived Bois des Isles thread headed me to Chanel before I noticed the synch.

So, here I am sorting laundry in in N° 22 listening Olive Nelson's Stolen Moments. Incongruous, and yet, why not!

    A lovely day to all.

ps—ClockworkAlice, I like how you think! Just do it!

You. Lucky. Dog! I went through a bottle of that decades ago. Had I known then what I know about perfume scarcity I'd have bought DOUBLE of everything! but.... I' not gonna spend the rest of my life seeking out old, old favorites.....

Another big fan of Sous Le Vent here, and ClockworkAlice, I hope you knock your presentation out of the park!

In sync and twins with Terry in Chanel Coromandel, chosen because I enjoy it very much but rarely wear it because I think it's too strong for work, but today I'm working from home, and stopping early for the July 4th holiday. I think wine o'clock may be starting early for me.

Coromandel Eau de Toilette fragrance notes: Jasmine, Patchouli, Woody notes, Amber, Benzoin, Frankincense
