Default Does owning MB Legend make buying Chanel PE redundant?

Hi, I'm looking for a fresh, clean but sophisticated mans scent.
Something that will last a decent time, project decent and not go Skanky/old school in the dry down.
I've already started another thread on here about this but this thread is specifically to ask one question...OK perhaps two....
I already own Legend Montblanc and although I do like it I seldom reach for it as I sometimes find it a little harsh or even overly dry. Not bright or fresh enough.
I do not find it particularly sophisticated or gentlemanly so to speak. As I said, a;though i do like it on it's own merits, from time to time, it's not a favourite and it doesn't tick that sophisticated gentleman's fragrance box for me.
    So the questions...

1/ Does Chanel PE tick the above box?

2/ Bearing in mind my above rationale for the purchase, does owning MB Legend
make owning Chanel Platinum Ecoiste redundant or pointless?
Does the Chanel PE smell so much like MB Legend that it would be a duplication of sorts or is the Chanel different and possibly classier enough to make it a reasonable exercise?
Is Chanel PE really a smoother MB Legend or do the difference run deeper than that?
Although I don't own this one the same question for Fierce Abercrombie & Fitch, is the Chanel PE a better/smoother or more grown up version or again do the differences run deeper?

PE is more grown up version, Legend is smoother.
I get the similar vibe from them, however, they are quite different to own both.

While similar Platinum Egoiste is the better fragrance all around smells nicer and is a lot more mature.

From a personal viewpoint alone: PE is definitely not redundant to buy/own if already owning MB Legend, especially since has enough complexity, style and performance to be one of the best fresh designer choices around

Chanel PE is way crisper and sharper in the base than Montblanc Legend, and arguably better.

It might. They're similar. If Mont Blanc Legend is one of your very favorites, then I would also get Platinum Egoiste.

I have Platinum Egoiste. I've sampled Mont Bland Legend several times. I like it. I think it's too much like Platinum Egoiste to buy.

The only way I'd say it's redundant is if you would end up always reaching for MB Legend instead of Platinum Egoiste, not because they smell similar (I think they're quite different), but because they fit similar situations for you.

For example: I like White Moss by Acca Cappa, but I'd never buy a bottle because when I'm in the mood for something fresh and clean, I'd always reach for Castile or Aqua Universalis instead. They smell totally different, but they fit the same situations where I'd reach for White Moss. White Moss is fantastic! I own a small decant, but I never wear it.

If you can't decide, why not buy a sample or a small decant instead so you can wear it for a while to see if it's something you need. Sampling is fun!

    Thanks, some food for thought.

It's obviously tricky to sample without actually buying samples online, which I'd rather not do as that's a few quid that could have gone toward a full bottle.
I'll have a look at what stores are open and if they are if their fragrances are out to sample? I doubt it.

I'm half tempted to just buy the Dior Eau Sauvage Cologne and be done with it. That would also be a blind buy but at least I'd know it wasn't going to smell just like something I already have!

To me PE never had anything to do with Legend and Fierce. To me it's a no brainer. Get PE if you like it to me they are different scents.

Well.... I managed to get out and sample Chanel PE this morning.
Didn't like it much, well I did but it wasn't fresh enough, it was like a less sweet version of MB Legend and I already have that. Not what I'm after right now.
I also sampled Chanel PM EDT to refresh my memory from having it before and it was sooo much nicer to my nose, made me want it again.
Could find anywhere that had the Dior ES Cologne so still not had my nose on that.
Dior won't send out samples, nowhere near me stocks it and no samples to be found.
Perhaps I could buy a sample online.
Ah well it's a process I suppose and I'm back to my original dilemma of Dior ESC vs Chanel PM EDT?

    Hmm,

I might recommend trying both Calvin Klein - Eternity and Maison Margiela - At the Barber's if you like Platinum Egoiste. The similarity is there but each has its own spin that is very interesting but at the same time almost seems oddly redundant. And despite it being very inexpensive, I think Eternity could be the better of that group in retrospect, even though I don't own Eternity at this time due to already owning Platinum Egoiste.....for the very reason that there is a kind of redundant impression. When I'm just about finished with Platinum Egoiste, I will revisit Eternity and At the Barber's at the counters and decide which bottle gets the next buy.
