Default What size do you buy?

I’ve never really thought much about this, but my brother visited over the weekend and he said to me “why do you always buy the large bottles of aftershave”, to be honest I’d never realised that I was even doing it but going through my collection everything is 100ml or larger... Maybe this is due to a fear of reformulations so have 100ml+ of juice puts me in good stead should that occur, but it could be just as much that I’m an over sprayer and anything less than 100ml just wouldn’t last me lol!

I guess my question is, what size do you usually go for and why?

100ml I like this size and feel it will last longer if I get a good deal and the bottle is not to abnormal in size to hold 150ml-200ml. I have a few in 30ml-50ml due to price at the time or that’s the only size they come in I have no exact rule I follow though.

100ml or larger with rare exceptions.

Besides the reformulation risk, outside of niche/indie direct from the source, much of the time a 100ml twice as big as a 50ml but may cost only only 50% or even 25% more, so if you like it it's the best deal....

Mostly 100ml, with a few 75ml and 50ml due to supply.

I try to stick to 30-50 ml bottles. Never wear one fragrance enough to warrant buying a 100ml

If it were retails bottles then usually 100ml bottles. For vintage bottles though it's all over the place.

At least 100 ml if available...in vintage stock, 50 ml or 75 ml may be the best one can find.

Almost always 100 ml (or 75 or 125 depending on brand). The price difference between those and 50 ml is so little that it doesn't make sense not to buy the large size regardless of any other reasons (storage space, usage amount, etc.). Only if the price difference or availability dictates, then I buy the smaller sizes. And BTW no testers and no unboxed. Presentation is a big part of the whole deal for me.

the larger my collection gets, the smaller the quantity I want for any fragrance, save a few favourites. With my collection currently at about 40 scents, a 10 ml travel size or decant is enough for me for most scents. It takes me ages to get through anything.

Same here. The price may work out better if you buy larger bottles, but it's a false economy if you own so many fragrances that each of them are hardly ever worn.

Buying smaller bottles means l can enjoy more variety in my wardrobe. And if something gets discontinued, there are always plenty of new fragrances out there to be enjoyed instead.

The only exception for me is Samsara, which will always be a wardrobe staple. l've worn it more than double the number of times l've worn the next most-worn fragrance in my collection, so l need those big bottles.

Usually 50ml to start, and if I like it, I buy a backup of the same size. It might cost more doing it that way, but 50ml bottles are easier for me to spray and 50ml is plenty (in most cases). For vintage perfume, I decide which era and concentration I'm looking for, preferably sealed with a box, and how much I'm willing to pay - then I buy the one that meets my criteria, irrespective of size.

90ml/100ml/120ml/125ml if possible, or 75ml/70ml/60ml/50ml if that's the largest it comes.

With such a large collection, I almost always buy the smallest available, usually 50ml. Unless I know I really love something and will wear it a lot.

I really love the 30ml bottles and wish more offered that.

The 100ml is nearly always a better cost per ml, but if I know it's a scent I probably won't go through quickly, I'd rather save a bit on the initial purchase.

Smallest size available unless it’s so insanely good that I wear it frequently and live somewhat in fear of future reformulations. Otherwise 30 ml is a very sweet spot for me.

As the collection has grown, I find 30 ml bottles to be the perfect size.

If I could start over, and everyone offered 30’s....that’s all I would buy.

    30-50ml for me too

    1. I can get more in my shoulder bag
    2. I rarely finish or even keep interested in 100ml or more (unless big favourites)

They obviously price 100 ml. bottles to get one to buy them. I would think that most of us here have fairly large collections, and never go through most of our 100 ml. bottles, except possibly for a favorite or two.

At the beginning decades ago, 100 ml was ok!
Today, however, much prefer 50 ml!

Even 30 ml bottles, but these are mostly totally overpriced!

Same, and there are a few select scents I have backed up with larger bottles.

That's my preference if there are multiple options, but with rare or vintage scents, sometimes you have take what's available.

Finally some people Older threads about this seem much more divided.

50 mls are my go to now, sometimes 30. If I can see it being a regular staple afterwards, I buy a 100 ml backup.

If and as often as possible 100 ml plus, with no upper limit on the size of non-factice, actual real content fragrance bottles.

However, if only having the choice of either not buying at all a fragrance do really wish to own and a 30/50/66 etc. ml bottle of this very same fragrance, would not hesitate to buy this size as well, should the 100 ml or larger bottles of it be unavailable.
