Thumbs up Re: SOTD: Tuesday, 14th July, 2020

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Once again, posting so late that it's now Monday.

An indescribably generous Basenotes member offered to send me some Calandre. I asked if they could send a couple of other things, and I have spent the last 4 hours dabbing and sniffing. I'm not sure which of these to choose, as an official scent of the evening. I got to smell Calandre, Jardenia and JAR Ferme tes Yeux, F Kurkdjian A La Rose, Auphorie L'Anima della Rosa, and MDCI Enlevement du Serail. I'm going to bed smelling gooooood . . . .

I also ordered a sample of Alien Fusion, and that also arrived today. I've wondered what a tuberose Alien would smell like, and now I know. It smells like something I'm going to buy.
Topping it all off with Lolita Lempicka Fleur de Corail. I agree with the reviewers who say that it smells like a slightly more tropical Musc Ravageur. Yummy.

Another Impossible Iris fan here . An instant purchase for me and my only real foray into the house so far. Maybe I need to investigate further.

    Happy birthday, staticX!

    Khanada, congrats on your samples!

We're visiting the port city and Sea museum today. We chose today for this trip because according to the forecast this should be the chilliest day of the week, but it's pretty sunny, so we'll probably get to go to the beach in the evening after all. The Baltic sea is cold as always, but waves were pretty nice yesterday. I missed swimming in the sea.

    Aqua Allegoria Passiflora today.

I had such a great night's sleep that I woke up reluctant to turn on the Internet or the radio, for fear of some fresh hell destroying my buoyant mood. But so far so good! Now to choose a perfume that's guaranteed to enhance cheerfulness... it came down to Sycomore or Ninfeo Mio, and Ninfeo won, because of the still-punishing heat.

    Vive La France!

Five years ago today, I was in Paris. Bastille Day.

Today, I am going to the Cleveland Museum of Art with my sister. Masks, timed tickets, limited capacity, but, at last art!

I have on white linen culottes, a black shell, a black straw hat, and of course on 14 July, something French, Guerlain Champs Elysées.

Here are two drawings from that day in Paris.
