    Default Succession planning

I'm wondering if anyone has their collection specifically covered in end of life planning.
Are you giving your kids instructions on selling?
Do you have a death pact with a fellow B'noter?
I can picture an esteemed member being ensconced in a tomb with his collection and perhaps a terrified caretaker.

I like to think my kids will be like "holy shit we can actually finance a trip to Hawaii on the Rive Gauche alone"

My considerable collection is indeed specifically listed in my Will (as are my other collections). I have left the entire lot to 2 very close friends who happen to be partnered (so they won't have to fight between themselves who gets what)
My current top 10 (subject to change) in no particular order:

Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Essenza de Zegna, Zegna Essenze Amber Gold, Armani Privé Sable Or, Armani Privé Vétiver Babylone, Mancera Cedrat Bois, Acqua di Giò Profumo, Amouage Dia Man, L'Artisan Explosions d’Emotions: Amour Nocturne, Zegna Essenze Italian Bergamot/Acqua di Bergamotto
Currently wearing: Chrome Pure by Azzaro

Bummer is that I am old enough to realize my mortality.

Have not really thought about this but will talk to my brother about this soon.

Right now, if I go, my bother and sister come in here and find this giant collection that will leave them speechless and confused.
They somewhat know of my "hobby" but if confronted with it would be perplexed.

Currently being and if remaining single as well as childless indefinitely, the fragrances will most likely be divided among friends and relatives that showed interest for this hobby.

Did not yet start any will or planning because although the amount of niche and/or pricier vintages is steadily growing, their total amount both as actual bottles and their value per bottle is still too small to justify a proper official will.

My vast collection will be left to my eldest grandson and if he decides to sell it at some point, he knows that every penny from the proceeds is to be donated to the many charities we support.

I haven't gotten a will written up but I should. I doubt my fragrances will be included specifically.....probably will just include them in a general statement of my personal belongings and who they should go to.

im only 30, but my wife did ask me about it once. i told her just put them all up on ebay with a starting bid of $1 and take whatever she gets. In reality she probably would just give them away though. She wont need money if i pass away...

LOL This is me! I just have notes on the container boxes (in my closet) stating to call a certain number (a friend) for pick up, no questions.

This is one reason why I sold off a lot of 'collectible' fragrances on ebay a couple of years ago.

I probably already have enough fragrance to last until I die, but as tastes change the question is, will I use them? I've largely stopped being a 'collector'.

I'm having all of mine sprayed on me (until the bottles are empty) before they put me in a casket and bury me. Hopefully I will be able to smell them!

I'm curious to ask my wife what she would do without any guidance. I'm going to guess keep them in a box for our daughter to deal with later or give them to my sister.

You can't even guarantee your next day, so what makes you so confident you're going to live out the next few years?

Same with all my other "collections" outside perfumery, my wife and family can do with them as they please.

It seems like there are a lot of people who don't have someone in their life that can appreciate this. I think I'll have my kids sell off the most valuable, but beyond that, re-home them on this forum, free of charge.

Throw it away for all I care. It could be cool if someone appreciated it, especially if it could stay in the family and you could be holding and smell the equivalent of a 1919 bottle of Mitsouko, but I'm dead so who cares? The stuff I own I really like smelling, and if I can't smell it anymore then it's not important.
