    Default How many bottles?

    Hey people!

Just as a matter of interest, how many different bottles of that sweet
smelling stuff does everybody here own? I'm starting to think I am a
little wierd as I have about 9 different bottles of aftershave sitting
    in my cupborad.

    Cheers!

    Hi Andrew,

I'd be curious to know the same. A selection of nine is far from
strange. A co-worker of mine has a collection of 30, broken down into
distinct categories. That does not include a drawer full of samples. A
definite hound, but a well stocked one. There are so damn many I wish
to try and they sound fantastic. When a bottle get's to the bottom
quarter or so, I pass it along to my younger cousin, the little wanker
does'nt miss anything. This forum makes me even more frantic to try
    everything! Here's my "current" stock:

    360
    Chrome
    Boss #6
    Eqoiste Platinum
    Dolce & Gabbana
    XS
    Emporio Armani
    Lagerfeld
    Cool Water
    Realm
    Aspen

Can you believe it? One of my friends (also a senior in college) has
over THIRTY THREE different colognes in his house!!! At least a third
of them are those little tiny sample bottles, but the reason he has
so many is that he will use the new cologne about halfway through the
bottle, and then get a new one, and he has saved all of them through
high school. I would be VERY curious to know if anyone has more than
33 different bottles of cologne in their current posession! As for
    myself, I have five:

    Curve (daily cologne)
    Realm (church on Sundays)
    Claiborne Sport (daily/special occasions)
    Jovan Ginseng NRG (daily)
    Egoiste Platinum (special occasions/parties)

Whenever I get more than that, I will give my least used bottle to
one of my friends and they will be forever in my debt.

I didn't realise I had as many as I did (28). But to be fair, I havent
bought all of these. I work on a Mens Fragrance Counter and I get given
stuff by reps. Plus I've had a few sent to me because of the website.

    Hello Group:

    My current favourites include:
Guerlain: Vetiver (which I have worn for 30 years)
    Caron: Pour Un Homme
    Hermes: Rocabar
    Demeter: Leather
Demeter: This is not a pipe
    Bvlgari: Black
    Diptyque: Eau Lente
    Creed: Epicea
    L'Artisan Parfumeur: Eau de Navigateur
    Chanel: Egoiste

Being an old guy - 52 - I find I do care for a lot of the
newer scents. They seem cheap and synthetic.

    Best Wishes,

    Rob

Glad to know there is someone who appreciates Vetiver
as much as I do. I think once you learn the more
subtle qualities of the scent, you will be hooked
    forever.
Vetiver was first introduced in the late 50's and I
discovered it by accident when buying some perfume for
my partner at the time. The lady at the shop gave me a
sample and said, 'try this, and I hope you will learn
to appreciate Vetiver'. One sniff and I was an instant
    fan.
I was also glad when I learned that the new packaging,
which is excellent by the way, contains the same
formula as the original. I was a little worried when I
saw the new bottles at the shops and hoped they had
    not discontinued the original scent.
I am only in my late twenties and I can already see
myself wearing Vetiver when I'm 50.

    Cheers!

    Andrew

    Rob!

I can understand how you feel. I'm only 27 and already
find some of the newer fragrance lacking in quality,
    detail and craftsmanship.
    Example of this are:

-Gucci Rush (smell it and you'll see!!!)
-Allure by Chanel (Lacking in depth and originality)
-Paco by Paco Robanne (almost a carboncopy of CkOne)
-Romance by RL (smells like a cross between Wings and
Eternity, which are already quite similar)
-Ferrari (Licence to make perfume should be revoked!)
-Aqua Gio by Armani (something about the sweetness
that just seems to linger in the air with this one)
-Goodlife (smells like insect repellent to me)
-Masuline by D&G (nice fragrance but it just doesn't
    last on me)

I hope I haven't offended anyone by writing this.
That is not my intention or purpose.
We all have things we like and dislike and this is
only my personal opinion. It is not in anyway, a
reflection of my impression regarding users of the
    above products.

    Cheers!

I guess I shouldn't have said "didn't like it." I do wear it because
I get compliments on it, but VERY rarely, because I Just don't think
it meshes well with my skin. I mean did you ever get that feeling
when you wear a cologne that even though it smelled good, it just
didn't seem like it went with you? I don't know, hard to put into
words, but I paid 30 dollars for one ounce of the stuff, so I"ll be
damned if I will waste it!

    Hey Clay!

I'm with you on this one. I still own a bottle of
Platinum which I bought almost 4 years ago. Shows you
how much I have been using the stuff.
When I have worn it, I get compliments and people
asking me which aftershave it was.
Although being one of the finer and longest lasting
fragrances on the market, it just doen't seem to gel
with my skin, especially after an hour or so. It kinda
ends up real floral and exudes an apparent sourness to
the scent at the same time. The best way I know to
describe it is if you can imagine a really sweet
bottle of white wine that has been left opened in the
    fridge for a few weeks.

    Cheers!

I've spent a 'small fortune' in cologne...here goes:

    Declaration / Cartier
    Coriolan / Guerlain
    Fendi Uomo / Fendi
    Gucci Por Homme and Nobile
    Chrome / Azzarro
    Curve / Claiborne
    Giorgio / Beverly Hills
Starring / Avon / cheap stuff
Dolce & Gabanna / did I spell this right?
    Gentleman / Givenchy
Sex Appeal / Jovan / cheap stuff
    Boss Sport / Hogo Boss
White Musk / Jovan / cheap stuff
Patchouli / oil and cologne / hippie scent
    Havana / Aramis
    Cool Water / Davidoff
    Paul Sebastian / original

...and about twenty others that I can't think of right
now (I'm at work...). This doesn't count the ones that
I have 'retired' and put in the basement.

Image, Dune and Coriolan are up there on my "seriously looking into"

Serge lutens : ambre sultan, arabie or douce amere
les editions de parfums: musc ravageur, noir d'epices
or comme des garcons like odeurs 71 that smells very strange , carbon,
