    Default Winners are......?

I came across an enlightening article Yesterday. It listed the top
selling mens fragrances for 1999-2000 in the US. Here's a few, I
can't remeber all of them: Eternity (what a surprise), Polo Sport
(Wow), Drakkar (gee whiz!), Obsession (Good Grief), Cool Water
(stupendous!). OK, all the sarcasm aside, these are all great scents
and I have a couple that were on the list. But I think a lot of these
are also there due too Joe Blow down the street wearing it and so
on. More experimentation is needed. There's such a huge selection
now, and a lot of them are, in my humble opinion, superior to the
above listed. No examples because I could go on forever. I do have a
life but when I get free time, I'll occasionally devote 4 to 5 hours
just cologne hunting. I hit the counter complete with list, spray
three, walk around for 20 minutes and return. After that dry down,
I'll repeat the cycle etc... I narrow it down to maybe six and ponder
on them. The first and second runner ups are a struggle, but I always
    leave happy and with no "I shoulda's". At $35 - $40.00 a bottle some
time is in order. My whole point is a lot of guys should forget the
status quo, and form a real personal opinion. You'll usually be
right. When someone inquires as to what you have on, It'll be much
more interesting. I'm done rambling. What do you think?

Those lists are always the same (Tommy, Polo SPort, Cool Water, etc)
It was one of the main reasons for me doing the Basenotes website was
to maybe open some peoples eyes to some new scents.
