Doctor Mod is a middle-aged butch/dandy gay gal from the working class who was born of a Dutch mother and German father in Honolulu, was permanently altered by encounters with 60s British culture in her formative years, lived in California most of her life, and now, through a million strange twists of fate, is an English professor at a university in New York. She is now, at long last, the perfect female mod dandy she always wanted to be and habitually wears pinstriped suits, paisley or floral silk ties, English Jermyn Street shirts, and fabulous shoes. She has also written and/or edited a number of books on literary and cultural criticism.
