Hello, my name is Patrick. Montana is my home. I have been living in Red Lodge, Montana and commuting to Billings, Montana (where I am a commercial painting contractor) since July of 1999. As an aside; this is how I wound up here: I have been posting as "Saint Cronin" on the music and social boards of a UK based website called Drowned In Sound for number of years. Recently on DiS, I posted a "perfume" topic: http://drownedinsound.com/communi... During that discussion, another DiSer suggested that I create and account here. Also during that discussion, the same person linked me to a couple of "perfume reviews". I was immediately struck by the similarities between those reviews and of the many "music reviews" I have myself posted on DiS and how people tend to think in similar terms when describing sensual experiences such as music, food & spirit, art & literature and even perfume and cologne- very interesting! I also very much enjoyed the tendency the reviewers had to pay attention to how sensuality overlaps such that a perfume experience could be described by comparing it to an experience of music. That excited me so I've decided to come over here and discuss with you people for a time. I have been a fan of fragrance since childhood. When I was 14, I asked for Nine Flags Cologne for Christmas and I have been wearing cologne since then, except I had to curtail greatly, my cologne usage during my marriage as my Wife is acutely oversensitive to most perfumes and colognes but now we are kaput and in my house, I have one bottle of cologne, which she chose for me five years ago, (L'Occitane "Eau De Bath") and a small bottle of her perfume ("Amarige") and I will use those fragrances as my starting wardrobe here. My secret Perfume ambition is to commission a fragrance for the main character of the modern adult fairytale novel I am currently writing. The book is based on a fantasy romance I had with a Ukrainian Girl named "Anna Kuryakin" during the existential crisis I suffered shortly after my divorce began. The book uses fairytale dynamics to mythologize a new vision of the sexes. I have long held that the root of all evil in this world stems from the awkward notion of it being a man's world. A world where the magic of women is largely under appreciated. Not to say it is a backwards notion and that it is actually a woman's world nor to say that there should be equality between the sexes but more that the world would be better suited if the strengths of each sex were acknowledged and accepted, played upon and benefitted from such that the power of each sex combines to make it a BETTER WORLD. So it seems fitting for me to spend some time here exploring the fragrances of the sexes and the statements we can make as women and men and as individuals. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was born on a U.S. Air Force base in California. My folks are from Missoula, Montana and they raised me in Billings, Montana. Alfter graduating high school in 1972, I spent a time living in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Chicago, Illinois where I got a little taste of different culture and city life before returning to Montana in 1977 to work for my Father's construction company. In 1980, the construction business folded and I took a position as a DJ at The Prairie Lounge in Billings, Montana where I worked for two and a half years. In 1982, I moved back to Chicago where I lived and worked as worked as a limousine driver and various construction jobs until 1989 when I returned once again to Montana. In 1990 I entered a cosmetology school in Billings and after two months of practicing on a mannequin head; it was decided that I couldn't do a thing with ANYONE'S hair- not even a mannequin but I met a girl at the school and we spent the next 20 years raising a boy together in Portland, Oregon and Red Lodge, Montana. We divorced in 2010 and I currently live at the base of Mt. Maurice outside of Red Lodge with my 19 year old Son and various animals. |
