I am always curious how people give the stars. I usually need more gradations for positive than for negative. I used to use * and ** for the perfumes I don't like, but then I found that I just need one "don't like" category. So, here's my breakdown.
* - don't like it, won't wear it, can't wait to give my bottle away and out of my hair. I may think it stinks, it may not work for me, I may or may not have any respect for the perfume or the house, but the bottom line is still the same: don't like it, won't put it on my skin.
** - it's OK but it doesn't elicit much enthusiasm from me. When I think of my bottle, I think about giving it away just as often or more often than of wearing it.
*** - I like it, it's fine. I wear it every once in a while because I have a bottle. The question is, if I didn't have one, would I miss it? (or will I miss it when it runs out?)
**** - it's a bottle I reach out for regularily and with a smile on my face. I have some definite situations in which I wear it. Or, I have associations and memories connected with it, and sometimes that's the reason I don't reach out for it but I love it still.
***** - I cannot believe I have it. As soon as there's a hair between the top of the bottle and the level of the juice, I start worrying how would I live without it if it's discontinued. Associations and memories abound. Love, love, love.
WARNING: I do change my mind on things every once in a while. As a heroine said in one of my favorite novels, I love some things, I hate some things, but sometimes these things swap places.
