Reviews of Violet Eyes

Violet Eyes is quite a bit different than Ms. Taylor's ubiquitous White Diamonds line. Of the six ingredients, it is the cedar that sets it apart. It is a woody scent for summer. It's crisp with peach. Lively with jasmine, rose, and peony. Crackling with cedar and amber. The wood sillage keeps creeping up to the surface like sparks leaping from a campfire. At times, the wood is all I smell. I can imagine Ms. Taylor wearing this throughout the entire production of Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?, just to annoy Richard.

I recommend reapplying many times to reduce the cedar, if too much wood annoys you. For some crazy reason this helps the peach, jasmine, and rose smother the wood.

Violet Eyes is a light peachy floral with a cedar base. Feminine without being cloying, something about it (maybe the cedar) makes me feel incredible peaceful. It's long lasting but hard to overdo making it a really good day scent. It's also very affordable.

It's mind boggling that nobody has compared this to CK Be. They are extremely similar. Whether on basenotes, fragrantica or any other site, I have never seen the comparison. CK Be is one of my all time favorite "safe" fragrances. Peach, white musk, the fresh metallic vibe that isn't a note, but some sort of combination of notes, or even a smeical compound that creates this accord. Bottom line, Violet Eyes is CK Be, with a more floral heart, with better projection, and sometimes better longevity. CK Be is temperamental on my skin.. sometimes the longevity is great, sometimes it's horrible. Violet Eyes is pretty consistent with its longevity though, at about 6-8 hours most of the time. Violet Eyes is safe for a man to wear, as long as you don't mind some floral notes. But on a woman, this smells beautiful.

For once, a modern fragrance that appeals to me, though since my daughter went wild for it, I gave it to her. It is a "scarf drawer" floral, which is my own term for a crisp spring-like floral that evokes silk fabric. The woods and peony keep it crisp and not too sweet. As in hedonia's review, the first word that came to mind for me was "lovely". All that and affordable.

Lovely scent, long lasting and not expensive at all!
