Reviews of Infusion d'Oeillet

I really wanted to like this, but unfortunately don't.

I'm a huge fan of both carnation and iris and had hoped for a clever mix of the two, but instead this is a cinnamon/clove mix more reminiscent of Chrismas pot pourri or Spicebomb than anything carnation. It's tied to Infusion's signature iris by an oddly sour patchouli. The result is odd - like a mix of cheap and expensive, loud and subdued, but with a bitterness to it that I find disagreeable. Oh well.

A mandarin opening with a good spicy touch after the first few seconds, which is a mix if styrax a a good lashing of clove. The carnation that gives the product its name is not really strong on me, and integrating well; I would not call it a dominant component. Later on a sandalwood, the Australian variety, makes an appearance in the background.

Additional components of note are a soft and smooth, slightly green Indonesian patchouli, which adds a pleasant nuance to the mix.

I get moderate sillage, very good projection, and eight hours of longevity on my skin.

This scent for cooler autumn days is a bit of a misnomer, as the carnation is not its main protagonist; is is not bad, but too generic at times. 2.75/5

Spicier and less woody than its cousin, Prada's "2 Oeillet." It like "2" puts carnation in the spotlight, but turns to styrax instead of cloves for a richer creation. It lacks the iris note of "2" and has no musk, which produce a scent that is less powdery as well. And there is a slight citrus presence that is lacking in "2."

It's great that one can choose between these moderately differnt carnation scents, for these differences DO matter to a lot of wearers.

Gentle powder fragrance, but more of a cloves than carnation
