Reviews of Eau Parfumée au Thé Noir

Au The Noir operates at the level of a sophisticated smoulder. From the sensual opening, a silken purr of oud-rose-tea powder, through the heart of soft oud-rose-leather smoke, to a drydown that deepens its beautiful dark but soft sophistication, it is a refined fragrance. Its submerged floral tea darkness is urbane, smooth and uplifting. The powdered smoke, tea and leather drydown are a hymn to the beauty and balance of a well-done dark drydown. It possesses a certain captivating calm, and as it ages, lays down and becomes part of my aura, incense-like. I would like to find an incense that smells like this. It’s very unisex - I love it on me, and if anyone, man or woman, were wearing this, I would be leaning in to inhale that intoxicating smoke. Smashing.

I like this scent. It's use of Aquatic, works seamlessly into what is essentially a smoldering Leather and ashtray similar to Heeley Phoenicia. The rubber of Faux Oud whispers only just. Patchouli and Tea strike an accord reminiscent of Tobacco. Following the lines of the melange, I am quite captivated by it's soft, smooth surfaces that "bloom" (Magnolia) rather than etch. Rose Oud softly.
Nicely done.

I am glad I didn't judge this one based on my first two wears. The opening put me off, and now I'm glad I've paid attention.
The opening surprised me: very fleeting black-ish tea (VERY fleeting).. I want to say rubbery, faintly smoky, amber... labdanum? Not unpleasantly so, but I was surprised to find it here. After a few minutes, this becomes a tightrope walk between dry wood and crispy black tea leaves, and a gorgeous, gently sweet rose that smells like dried petals crushed by my fingertips. wow.
It lies very close to my skin, and the tea aspect comes and goes, but overall it's a winner. A 7 out of 10.

A lovely scent, somewhat difficult for me to review accurately.
I feel that the floral notes and even the tea notes are so ephemeral that my skin gobbles them up before I can detect them. I will give the scent the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are there -- all I can detect is their ghostly echo. Here is what I can report:

There is a green, crisp and refreshing opening. Very quickly (2-4 seconds) it develops into a light oud. Very civilized and domesticated, essentially a light leathery sort of note. I feel that the florals are essentially softening and beautifying the oud and patchouli, rather than being distinct notes in themselves.
I did get the tea note on the paper strip, just not on my skin.
Try it for yourself and judge. It is a lovely scent.

First off - this is not a replacement for Bvlgari Black, this is an entirely different creature.

That being said, it's beautiful and I want a bottle. A beautiful oud-black tea accord that is both fresh and lively, yet dark and brooding.

I can't get enough of it. If you like Annick Goutal Duel, this is a must-try. If you want an oud that's atypical and fresh, also a must-try.

Beautifully done, beautifully packaged, and a welcome, sturdy addition to the ethereal Eau Parfumee collection.

Take note - patchouli haters need not apply.

EAU PARFUMEE AU THE NOIR portrays the alluring warmth of the east that creates an experience of absolute indulgence.for a rose&oud perfume this is actually pretty clean and fresh smelling.for those who have difficulty with rose&oud and often find it overwhelming please try this.the scent is for a character calm, subtle but strong and confident. Luxurious,Woody,Elegant,Oriental,Seductive,Gorgeous and Captivating.

The fragrance opens with a perfect blend between tender rose and sensual leather punctuated by a spicy touch of tobacco.the woody heart reveals an elegant oud accord associated with opulent tones of magnolia and black tea.the rich wake of patchouli and amber(it is not at list but I found it)provides a perfect signature with a delicately oriental woody fact its opening is strong but it settles down quickly.the rose in this recalls LADY VENGEANCE in its quality.this EDP IS suitable for special moments.

Longevity?Good on my skin.
