Reviews of HOS N.002

There is one review of HOS N.002.
What would you get if you took Acqua di Giò Pour Homme by Giorgio Armani (1996) and made it darker and richer? Why, you'd get the Profumo flanker released in 2015, but evidently you'd also get House of Sillage HOS N.002 (2016) as well. Maybe Mark Buxton really liked Acqua di Giò Profumo (2015) and thought he could gussy it up for a makeshift luxury masculine, or perhaps it's sheer coincidence that they bear any resemblance, but what I know is that this is to the Armani fragrance what Creed Original Santal (2005) is to Montblanc Individuel (2003). Of course, this sumnation could very well end the review, but in case you want to know a little more, I'll go through the breakdown and cite what few key differences there are between the two masculine "dark" aquatics.

The opening of HOS N.002 is very much like the opening of the original AdG pour Homme but tosses in some mandarin orange for a bit of a Clinique Happy for Men (1999) vibe, making this not a direct clone. The hedione and vetiver in the heart play around with each other and a salty marine accord like that found in the Armani, with a bit of spicy galanga entering the picture. The usual white floral dihydromyrcenol freshness found in AdG is also here but a bit of sharp juniper makes this feel more "British"in that gin and tonic way than the designer to which I compare it. Finally, the incense note of Acqua di Giò Profumo sits alongside musk, cedar, and a healthy dose of ambroxan, which gives HOS N.002 more heft than the Armani, but did you really need it? Wear time is long at 10 hours and projection is really good, so paying the luxury premiun will yield you a powerful fragrance.

House of Sillage HOS N.002 would work best in an office environment, but outside that juniper and the ambroxan, is almost a 1 for 1 copy of Acqua di Giò Profumo with a dash of the Clinique orange in the opening. Mark Buxton does a real good job, but I don't know about $300 good, and HOS N.003 (2016) seems to be a more-unique aquatic interpretation he also penned for the house, making it the better buy. The solid lighter-shaped bottle and pushbutton mechanical sprayer shield sure are cool with this series of masculines, as is the usual deluxe (and wasteful) packaging, but the actual fragrance is only a few pegs above the designer norm for me and better passed up for more-fulfilling experiences at this market level. Your opinion may vary, so go ahead and sample this before writing off, but I'm rather indifferent to HOS N.002 as a luxury masculine. Neutral.
