The smouldering embers of a wood-burning stove at nightfall. Basking in the warm and comforting glow of cade – its smoky scent mingled with cedarwood and complemented by a mouth-watering hint of sensual vanilla.

Spicy church incense, smoky wooded herbaceous all the way down. Powdery and peppery. It’s pleasant but I would not say it has any specific cedar wood scent. The cade is dominant, tar-like, calming. I like this scent, it is grounding and has a protective, cocoon like wrapping. Warm, ember-y vanilla. It simply feels good to wear. Hours later-5-a mild touch of smoky incense and sweetened vanilla remain. The whole scent, from top to bottom is understated, with a sillage close to the skin; not a lot of projection here. It isn’t a mind blowing fragrance, but I do like it.

The opening is a dried it wood note (the cade?) with a cedarwood developing in the drydown. This is a bright and light set of top notes, and it is all very restrained of me.
The later development brings in a labdanum, which is done well; it is gentle, not sharp and not dark at all. A vanilla is added in later on; again this is a discreet and quite dry vanilla with a light touch. The labdanum and the vanilla combine to an interesting and quite original experience.
I got soft sillage, adequate projection and eight hours of longevity on my skin.
This scent for warmer spring days is a bit too weak and anaemic in the first phases, but later on is not without some unusual features. Whilst this House is known to generate products meant for layering, the beginning is just a bit too weak and nondescript to enthuse. Overall 2.75/5
