Dior Homme Eau de Toilette (2020 version) fragrance notes

Reviews of Dior Homme Eau de Toilette (2020 version)

This is like Homme Intense, but with the ambrette and iris toned down. Very fruity on the initial spray, but it deepens and gets real woodsy in 10-20 minutes. After an hour or so it becomes sort of musky, with all the other notes there unobtrusively mingling. It lasts long enough for a night out, and is unique and interesting enough to garner questions and likes. I have not had the chance to test the sweat factor yet, as in if and what it will smell like after sweating a bit. Very well executed and interesting enough to warrant a buy and a rotation into your routine. Still haven’t decided if this is a Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer scent though. Time will tell.

When you get round to trying something that has been slated, ridiculed and wrote off it automatically becomes a nothing to lose situation, smelling this for the first time i couldn't help but smile. The opening is quiet uplifting, bergamot is rounded out with the slightest touch of elemi to prevent it becoming jarring, the pink pepper also adds a bit of punch, through to the mid there is a huge '2020' amount of Iso e super and something that is causing a slight powdery effect ..maybe iris or violet, this gives it a slightly soapy bathroom feel, the vetiver in the base tho keeps it from being feminine, anything else in the base is washed out by a pleasent white musk. This is a futuristic fragrance given the amount of laboratory synthetics used and being used so well. ..2020 is blended to a high standard but it loses marks for originality because of the many ormonde Jayne fragrances that use this technique of blending iso e super into fresh ingredients. My true qualm tho is the packaging, by all means call it 'Homme 2020' ...I get that ..it's modern yet delicate and metrosexual but they could of at least changed the presentation.

Dior Dry

Iso E, violet (i think im the only one who gets this), cashmeran, cedar. Its super polite. Lasts all day easy. Great blending. Demachy is all about these semitransparent frags. He does em well. Wears well. This is a movement frag, to be experienced as an aura in the air. Good stuff. Dry and masculine. Thumbs up!

Survivalists talk about the Grey Man. The guy so ordinary you ignore him in the street.

And that's what Dior have done here. A bland musky thing with no iris, just sweet woody flowers and cocoa, and a tiny smidgeon of pepper. Perfect for those who want to go un-noticed.

It will most likely be a huge hit.

Here we are in 2020, with this new Dior Homme 2020.
I do not own DH original, but i do own DHI, and since they both share much similarities, i know enough to get the differences here - the only thing i have to point to Dior is the mistake they made in calling it "Dior Homme", with most of people thinking this is just a slight reformulation of it, wich is definitely not!!
Personnaly, and fanaticism apart, i found this fragrance to be awesome - i see the throwback to Bleu de Chanel, i get the intention to appeal to the masses, and i even know the original DH, so i can really say that this is a very good fragrance.... let's just not call it "Dior Homme"... maybe Dior Homme Libre, Dior Blue, or just "Dior Homme 2020" written on the bottle - that would do it so much more justice! And to the original DH too, of course.
All things considered, i'm a fan of both versions, and if my heart truly prefers the original, the same heart also appreciates this scent so much to ignore it!
Go buy it, own it well, because there's no mistake here - probably you'll like it, maybe just don't love it. But hey - i do love it already after some use! And everyone around me seems to like it too.

Cheers!

Like many hear I was pretty upset when Dior Homme was completely tossed aside for this new Dior Homme...hence forth Homme 2020. I still am upset and wish they would have come up with a new name as it is nothing like the Dior Homme we've all known for years. However, I do like this. It's easy to wear and smells great. It isn't going to blow anyone away who is looking for something unique or niche "artistic". But it does smell good and is a crowd pleaser...which is the point of it, let's be honest. So while I take points away for the unoriginal name or rebrand or whatever Dior is going for, it makes up those points in a great smell, albeit nothing groundbreaking.
