Cartier is a watch and jewellery maker and was founded in 1847 in Paris by Louis-François Cartier, it wasn't until his grandsons Louis, Pierre and Jacques took over that Cartier became a world famous brand-name. At the start of the 20th century, early aviator, Alberto Santos-Dumont wanted a way of checking the time in his aircraft prototype, and Louis Cartier presented him with a leather strapped wristwatch.
The first Cartier fragrances were lauched in 1981 - the mens named after Santos-Dumont, and the women's Must de Cartier, named after a range of Cartier luxury goods.
