A bit different from the usual Conehead scent... but (a) it has vetiver in it and (b) I'm the captain of this ship...

This is a magical and very distinctive scent! It is boldly new and yet it has a quirky old-school aura about it. It is deep and yet bright. It opens with a perky bergamot and geranium-rose blast, and then moves into an opulent floral heart which is balanced by a somewhat sharp edge. Many have identified oud in the background, and that may be the case. Oud and rose is a classic combination. The geranium rose makes this a very British and suggests a rounder, smoother version of D.R. Harris's Arlington. Might be some moss here too, and incense. Lovely dry down. On the one hand rich, languid, and slightly decadent; on the other hand bright and sprightly.
I have long been convinced that a classy, dry, slightly brooding British rose scent for guys would be terrific. I have come to realize that this scent is exactly that.

I was gobsmacked when I tried it. The very definition of a "gothic" fragrance. Something H. P. Lovecraft or young people who only dress in black might crave.

Excellent fragrance of Lords, gothic and sinister. One of my favorite rose/geranium combo on the side of Domenico Caraceni 1913.

An exotic, dark, dangerous, languid and decadent scent. Rose suitable for a man. Surely some oud is here, or perhaps it is the heady frangipani. Very floral but not too sweet. Grassy vetiver is hinted at in the dry-down. Compelling.

There was something I found cheap and synthetic in No. 88, perhaps the dreaded dihydromyrcenol, of Cool Water fame.

Still looking for my great masculine rose...

Interesting, MB. I am so totally digging it that I have decided that it is bottle-worthy. That's a huge decision for me.
I never get anything synthetic in it. It really hits a lot of good buttons in my consciousness.
Scents strike everyone differently, and people have sensitivities in various areas.

Yep. I like certain synthetic accords, all depends on just which ones!

I have been circling around this one, trying it every 2-3 days. It is pretty good. Rose notes but not sweetly floral. Opulent without being oppressively heavy. Bit of an air of intrigue/goth on this one.

The rose-floral notes are so languid, rich and mysterious. The scent is captivating. A lovely dry rose, very suitable for a man to wear. Today I'm getting a bit of a toasted nut note, that is probably from the sandalwood.
