Once members have had a chance to sample, please do post back with your thoughts on how they all smell compared to their original versions.
How does it compare to the original version's packaging?
Sloth, I fell into the same illusion when I was fairly new to this hobby.
I found these two threads really useful and I ended up saving them so that I could refer to them again in future. I would...

I have to agree with both sentiments. Beau de Jour has the most enormous amount of some sort of synthetic and highly sweetened lavender that turns my stomach. I find this so loud, I just have to...
Well spotted!
I managed to find it following on from your post. The Perfume Shop have it listed as "Launch date 2021", so it looks like it has indeed been re-released!
I would suggest that you revisit Amyris Homme and try both the Eau de Toilette and the Extrait. This is a benchmark spring scent for me. I won't be drawn on any of the 'its too designer' comments. I...
For the grass/green combination I would suggest:
- Acqua di Parma Colonia Futura
- Castle Forbes Gentleman's Cologne
- Czech & Speake's Perecto Fino (which is also leathery and smoky)
I quite agree. I've had plenty of sampling rounds with the whole series now. I still prefer the Parfum having tired it side by side recently with the EdT. The entire series has a string of synthetics...
I just had to respond to the above paragraph and give it the praise it deserves. The most important advice one can give to someone like the OP is to "follow your own nose" and to never feel pressured...
Well it now looks like those links have vanished from Escentual's website. I wonder if they come back at all with the correct info & retain the original links/URLs.
Of course! Have you not seen the terms of reference for a moderator?
Amouage Boundless and Amouage Material.
Info here:
https://www.basenotes.net/threads/487673-New-Amouage-Material-and-Boundless
I'm actually looking forward to trying Boundless. Some of my favourite notes are listed here, so I hope it smells as good as it looks in writing.
The phrase I want to use right now rhymes with Clucking Bell
I thought it was quite fitting too! Great opening line
Welcome to our community, Irina!
I am not that qualified to comment on your list, but reading your post did make me wonder...
I agree the TV is an obvious fake. I would question the OW one - it's closer to the original than the TV. But it might just be a better fake. I don't claim to be an expert on the matter however.
I moved the thread to the DIY section.
I wouldn't use the word 'hate' for TF - neither as a brand or personally. That would just be juvenile. But I do hate how they discontinue scents faster than they can produce them. I understand not...

The April edition of this thread continues here: https://www.basenotes.net/threads/487450-Today-I-bought-April-2021
New thread for April is here:
https://www.basenotes.net/threads/487497-SOTW-April
For me it has to be Egoiste. The name says a lot about the person who wears it... and the corresponding TV ad of the time was marketing at its very best.
I've never had much of an interest in the TF brand, although when the individual worked at YSL things were very different. Nothing ground-breaking or revolutionary to my nose, so I agree with the...
Some surprises this month, mostly due to excessive testing:
1 Déclaration Essence by Cartier 10 wears
2 Cacharel pour L'Homme by Cacharel 6 wears
3 Gentlemen's Cologne by Castle Forbes 6 wears...
Yup, my thoughts as well. Can't risk another costly blind buy.

Same here. I hate it with a passion. It's probably in a lot of things these days, but it can be tollerable if it's blended well and not on its own. It's probably one reason why I stay away from Tom...
First I've heard of it, but given Acqua di Parma's record with oud scents, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
Amouage is definitely a house that you need to 'try before you buy' as it isn't everyone's cup of tea.
I had the same issues with Bracken Man. It kept making me sneeze quite badly. And I am not...
Any experience on recent batches of the 250ml splash flacons? Has anyone first hand (recent) experience of these that they can share with us?
Czech & Speake No. 88 - lots of freshness in the top; ideal for summer or warmer weather
Hermes Equipage - probably the nearest thing that fits your description. The newer Equipage Geranium flanker...
Quite right, that's the best part of it. Mind you, it was a phenomenal accord in the vintage (first edition).
Yes, I gathered that much as well. Why else would they write it if they are clearly in the business to sell their products? :lolk:

I couldn't agree with statement more.
Whilst I have to admit I got bitten by the BdC 'itch' (especially with the Parfum) and had an on/off love affair with it. But getting back to Erolfa, it doesn't...
As there is already a thread open on this in General Fragrance Discussion, we'll merge the two threads together.
Please note that cross posting is not permitted on Basenotes, as per the Code of...
Thanks for the update, Dave. Do let us know how you get on if you decide to make a claim.
An interesting article by UK-based Czech & Speake:
https://www.czechandspeake.com/fragrance/journal-posts/why-you-should-still-wear-fragrance-in-lockdown/
Yup, I'm with Danny on this. Not even a remote similarity in my opinion.
As to the OP's original question, I am of the opinion that any version of Rive Gauche PH should be grabbed right away if...
Has anyone in the UK ordered from Nose Paris to date in 2021? Would be interested to hear your experiences.
I quite like the bottle colour - certainly more appealing to the eye than the original with the black wrap-around.
Obviously no chance of trying the scent just yet. But some day, I may just walk...
I'd agree with this. If you must layer it with something, option 1 would be my bet. Maybe Eau Duelle EdP by Diptyque should balance it out well? Hopefully that won't cause too much of a scent clash,...
Get in touch with them; they should be able to add you on to an email stock alert.

I finally got to try Declaration Essence and L'Eau. Still haven't managed to get samples of Declaration Cologne and some of the other flankers.
Essence really does have an amplified birch note,...
I don't remember trying the Bvlgari, but I know the others well.
AdP Colonia Essenza is quite different to the others and I would say worth getting.
Got to agree with you both on this. I don't know if it's the mossy greens in GIT that have that effect on me, but this along with Patrick (FoI) evoke strong memories of damp countryside in Spring...
Look no further than Acqua di Parma Essenza di Colonia.
+1 on Black.
I would also throw Eucris EdP in the ring.
Vintage bottle of Sagamore by Lancome is the nearest you'll get to meeting your requirements.
In my opinion it's a two-horse race between TdH EdT and ES EdT.
Some of the comments below the main letter/article are quite laughable.... <sigh> no one understands us
If they are stupid enough to do that, it will clearly have an impact on their revenue... I for one cannot wait to find a suitable alternative to shift unwanted scents.
Indeed - time to bring out the Petit Matin for me
Does that come in an EdT or an EdP???
On a more serious note, be advised that the mods are watching this thread quite closely.
There is definitely something in BdJ that is meant to smell like lavender, but I'm not falling for it. This is not the traditional lavender we are used to smelling in traditional men's scents. Try...
I agree. Sample them all but wouldn't rate any one above the other here. They are equally under-performers for me and may have their fans in isolated groups.
I'm not seeing the error either.
Forgive me for sounding pedantic, but could it be that you have your browser (Google Chrome, MS Edge, Firefox, etc) set to translate the page automatically for...
Since my last post in this thread, I managed to get my hands on a bottle.
It is very much a well thought-out, smooth vetiver scent, so not your traditional colonia based on citrus or soapy neroli...
There are a few discounters with good prices on Creeds. The most obvious places right now are All Beauty and Notino UK. There may well be others, but these are both reputable online retailers with...

Yup. The dry down is the worst part to my nose. I don't mind the opening for a bit, but whatever goes on from mid to base, it is hard to get me to like that.
It's going to be near impossible...
Lol, each to their own I guess. I can’t express in words how much I despise ofEau Sauvage Parfum.
Sounds like H24 will be a pass for me then...
Thanks for the update. It looks like some stores/retailers are finding workarounds, but in addition I'd also be interested in hearing about people's experiences when placing and receiving orders from...
Perhaps because the current owners of YSL (L'Oreal) haven't a clue about anything fragrance related these days? :lolk:
On a more serious note, I do think this may have something to do with...
Great question and good idea for a thread IMHO.
It's both to me, but I agree with the majority here. It leans more towards fougere than chypre.
Yup. I got a 10ml TF atomiser from eBay some time ago. I use it to decant a fragrance in there and take it with me on holiday.

This. It's a very under-rated scent and for the price you can't go wrong.
EDIT: Milano Cento for Him is another cheap scent that should not be overlooked.
That's a fair comment and would explain the change.
I actually really like the opening of both versions. The dry down is much more subtle in the signature and it actually feels more natural. I...
Superb! Thank you!
That confirms it then... there are some differences.
I'd agree with 'samples and decants' - take sample or travel atomisers of the current favourites that you wear in your rotation.
Otherwise, if you mean you are looking for something versatile,...
This. Sunlight and humidity are fragrances' enemy.
So, following my previous comments, I have now tried the signature version.
I still need more time with it. But I will say they are 99.99% the same. Only a very experienced nose will be able to...

I tried the Cologne version on skin and to me it was a straight up Bleu de Chanel Parfum with a prolonged vetiver note in the base.
I wasn't able to try the Extrait version at the time, but it...

I'd much rather go for Xerjoff Kobe, which is a better scent overall. Much more expensive, but has a lot more going on and you need even less than the MFK.
That thread is specific to PR Pour Homme. The OP is asking about Paco Rabanne XS.
I wonder if I could try and get a sample out of Hermes UK... bit of a long shot but nothing to lose I guess?
It's a bone dry woody scent with a really nice dry down. You don't need a lot and it lasts quite well.
The Malle competes with Cacharel Pour Homme for woodiest scent and whilst it's not identical,...
I agree. The strength of PdN Patchouli Intense is measured by its half life and it's just shy of a few billion years. This would be a good scent to spritz onto a handkerchief to place in a drawer or...
Ironically (I think), both of my worst experiences involved the sale of Tom Ford scents.
I really do wonder if TF is practising voodoo or other dark arts on his perfumes
Yup I noticed that one earlier.
Honestly, no it's not heavily in there by any means. But it is there.
You will get much more pine out of the Castle Forbes recommendations that I made.
I have been bitten by this one too! Mirto is a superb scent, very fresh - that opening is out of this world.
Wow, you seem to be ahead of the game already with the Tom Ford and Floris. Both superb cypress scents alike.
Esencia Loewe might be one to check out as well. The current version is actually...
Here's a description I managed to find online:
Also, here's a link to the NST blog:

Great suggestions!
I'm not a fan of Nio either. Tried it multiple times and couldn't really see what all the fuss was about. Something like Amouage Beach Hut is a much better option but it doesn't do anything for me.

Yes, I agree. I had both and eventually settled on the Xerjoff which blows the Dior right out of the park.
Czech & Speake's 2020 release Perfecto Fino. Absolute perfection.
It was a spam post. In future, rather than replying to these people, please just report them to the mods in the usual way where we will be all too keen to send them back to where they came from :)
Interesting comments - thanks.
I only have a sample of the PB version and have started to notice a revolting dose of cashmeran or cypriol in the base. So I am going off it. But I'd still be keen on...
