    Re: Platinum Egoists vs Egoiste

Égoïste and Platinum Égoïste were created for very different reasons and for very different eras of designer perfumery.

To understand Égoïste you have to go back a little further to the mid-80's...

  4. Re: Bought a new bottle of Eternity after 20 years

Not to sound conspiratorial, but I'd venture a guess that a lot of YouTubers assume things based on popular opinion and say what they think the audience wants to hear in order to get subscribers.
  5. Re: Bought a new bottle of Eternity after 20 years

I dunno, OP seems really happy with what he has. Vintage isn't always default superior for everyone just because.

That said, vintage should be sampled for curiousity's sake, just to see what was...
  6. Re: Fragrances that make you think of other Basenoters when you wear them.

Morgan de Toi Homme (2003) is my favorite aughtie right now, but don't go to eBay for it. Check discounters.

Also, I could say what fragrance you remind me of, but it would be too on the nose. ;)
  7. Re: Reformulations done well on vintage gems?

I think Acqua di Giò pour Homme is still nice. Not as strong, but the fidelity is there, minus some roundness.

  11. Re: Office & Work Scents: what do basenoters *actually* wear to work?

I work alone (even more so during the pandemic) and often am outside, so I only have to match the weather, rather than mind my sillage around others. This lets me pretty much wear whatever.

Naw, but it wears very easy, as it isn't an "engaging with the higher self" kind of fragrance. I might finally wear one of those tomorrow, because I'm finally tired of this one.
