Re: Vintage Scent of the Day

I think I’ll sync with Marand75 today and wear Oleg Cassini for Men (Euroitalia), but I’m not going to apply it for a while because yesterday’s Jicky is still hanging in there deliciously as a skin...

    Re: Vintage fragrance I bought today - Q1 2021

This is perfectly reasonable (and what I would hope to pay), except nobody is selling Patou pour Homme for as little as $120/90ml, cap or no cap. Even the $350–450 range Bavard suggested would be a...

    Re: Objectivity in Art

There’s no such thing as “an objective piece of music,” nor could there be. There are objective aspects of music: this piece is in Ab, it’s 4’33” long, it’s in 4/4 time, the tempo is 87 bpm. Those...

Re: Vintage Scent of the Day - Q1 2021

I have a bottle of Royal Argenta Russian Leather from the same company, Cosmetco, with the same schtick of gold or silver paint dabbed on the bottles. I've tried to sell it, but I can't blame anyone...

Re: Vintage Scent of the Day - Q1 2021

Dr. T. and I did a small comparison, as she's wearing her 1950s Jicky extrait today. 1970s is good; 1950s is better. That is, if you like civet.

    Guerlain - Jicky extrait

Packaging indicates a late 1960s to mid 1970s bottle. This will be the inaugural wearing.

Re: Special for Gentlemen by Le Galion

MdM never mentioned “Jicky without civet”; he offered Jicky with less civet (and more hay) as a comparative descriptor. Doesn’t sound like grape juice to me.

Re: Vintage Scent of the Day - Q1 2021

Given my limited wearings, my assessment is totally premature, but I found the original (surprisingly) reserved for my tastes, and I don't remember Vert, so I'll award Brun a provisional gold. Ask me...

Well, don’t expect me to remember. I don’t do drugs, so I wasn’t around in 2020.

    Lancôme - Balafre

Syncing with LiveJazz today. The 90° bottles are probably older than Bavard’s 85% maxi-mini. I wasn’t even aware there were different vintage iterations.

    We redecorated.

Actually, the master bath is green and the guest bath across the hall is yellow. I sometimes use the guest bathroom to make the master available to Dr. T.
