Out of the three clearly Ultra Male.
Current made in France batches are great!
...
My 2018 and 2019 batches last over 8 hours easily.
I remember many people complaining about Fahrenheit being watered down in mid 2010s.
But that also depends on skin and climate of course. ...
They use a lot of high quality natural ingredients but I'm pretty sure that there are a few synthetics too.
That's a nice one too - and quite underrated.
Unfortunately performance is not the best on my skin.
And it's probably discontinued. It's getting harder to find now in Germany, it's only available...
That's true.
What I wanted to say is that he's not the only one who's complaining about newer Reflection Man batches.
It is what it is.
You are right, there are several factors which come into play, that's why I advised to spray just onto the arms.
But if it was really really weak I wouldn't expect any wonders.
As I watch all Russian Top Dog tournaments I see what you mean.
But unfortunately I don't understand Russian, good to have the subs here, haha. :)
Honestly I've heard from several guys who have already given it a few months and they still complain about the bad performance.
If a fragrance won't last more than 4 hours from the start it will...
Have you tried the automatic translation (subs)?
I think the bottles are still made of glass, just the big refill is aluminum.
Can't speak for your particular batch, but I personally haven't enjoyed 2015 and 2016 batches that much. There was a time when quite a few guys said, they get vanilla too, which is untypical for...
Bal d'Afrique?
Though on my skin it's quite feminine.
Iirc I've read somewhere that it is "inspired" by Parfums de Marly Percival.
Don't think they would do a clone of AdG Profondo, as that one isn't that much more expensive so people would still...
It really looks impressive, here's a video (unfortunately in German):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYi60RArdT0
But I disagree with him when he says that the fragrance should have a longer...
Thanks for sharing your experience with a 2020 batch!
That sounds good!
I think it's a step towards those "blue" fragrances (YSL Y, BdC, Sauvage etc.) and has a certain "showergel" vibe. I also get some sort of a hey like note in the drydown. Maybe it's the kind of...
Or Encens
Pulse of the Night
Noir Ambré
Noir Argent
Maybe in that order (could change and depends on the day you ask).
Actually Sauvage is indeed a kind of designerish more likeable version of Aventus.
Someone posted a CG/MS analysis of both a few years ago (maybe on another forum) and both share certain...
Haven't tried Terroni.
But I wouldn't pick Oud for Greatness or Red Tobacco either.
I honestly don't think that the massive hype for Oud for Greatness is justified. Don't get me wrong, it's a...
Yes, I know.
That problem isn't new, also with decanter bottles like 250 or 500 ml Aventus.
What I wanted to say is that you have to be careful when buying a used Sauvage bottle from now on.
Why not just looking at your bottle if you could unscrew the sprayer like Dior has shown here:
150528
If they really switched the complete production of the 30 and 100 ml bottles and only...
Dior says that the refills are only compatible with 30 or 100 ml bottles that have "refillable" written on the bottom.
So the regular 100 ml bottles are not refillable.
No.
Please read this thread, I've compared a 2018 batch to a 2019 one - the latter is more floral.
Don't know how 2021 batches are.
Both, 2018 and 2019 ones are very good.
Late 2018 ones...
Actually, if you buy the 300 ml refill & 100 ml refillable bottle set, you'll get 400 ml in total. :D
https://www.dior.com/de_de/dufte/herrendufte/sauvage/sauvage-refill-eau-de-toilette-100-ml
I compared several 2018 (and a January 2019) batches, which were the previous formulation to 2019 new formulation ones - and the newer ones are more zesty and floral - and less leathery. At least to...
The 300 ml refills are sold with special 30 or 100 ml bottles.
The steps how to refill are shown in the picture:
...
More floral than what?
Seems like many brands now go the all black route, eg. Invictus Victory, Y Le Parfum, Bad Boy EdP etc.
I've blindbought it, when it was released and my order was cancelled because the shop hadn't got it in time.
And I refused to order again because they jacked up the price - also I've seen many...
April fools?
That's the typical BN hate train against PdM.
Nothing new or surprising.
I would recommend Pegasus and Carlisle.
Layton, Herod and Oajan are great too.
I guess most guys haven't tried the new Le Parfum.
I like the Le Parfum more than the EdP (as I've described in the Y Le Parfum thread where I gave my impressions) and think that this and Y Live...
8L05 is the previous formulation.
It's more leathery and less floral.
Great stuff, I've got the 8L03.
I prefer Prada Luna Rossa Black over both Midnight in Paris versions.
Blue Astral has a nice opening, but the drydown is a little bit boring and it doesn't last long.
Pulse of the Night is one of my favorite fragrances. I love it!
I still haven't finished my 9F03, which is just 3 months younger than yours - and that one is great.
I've bought some backup bottles of other 2019 batches but haven't opened them yet.
Honestly...
It doesn't smell like 1 Million either.
I would say it's closer to Invictus though.
It has a bit of Pure XS in the opening and early drydown.
And I don't think it's a gourmand just because of...
Nice!
I hope you'll give the darker ones a chance too (Pulse of the Night, Noir Argent, Noir Ambré, Or Encens).
So you don't like Legend?
Onyx is the same as the OG.
I've seen quite a few people now who enjoy Victory more than other Invictus flankers.
So I guess if you already like all of them except...
I don't know.
But I remember that many people said that CH Men has gone bad after 2015 - and my 2017 batch is really good. So a 2020 one is probably not that bad either.
The 2014 red ribbon one is considered to be the same as the 2009 one.
That's why I compared the former one (as it was also fresher than an years old half full bottle).
I think that a 2014 batch with the red ribbon smells the same as a 2015 batch without the ribbon. Got it here.
But I realized a small difference with my 2017 batch which was a little bit less...
I had two bottles of Oud Satin Mood and liked how it smelled.
But I sold them because I don't like fragrances which last that long on my skin (and clothes).
And even with only two sprays it was...
I haven't created one yet.
That's all.
I can only speak for the 2020 made in France batch from PUIG which is excellent. I've already described how it smells in this thread a few posts...
FIRST LET'S DISCUSS AQVA AMARA! :cheesy::laugh:
I think that's the best one.
I don't really care for the original Aqva, to me it has some sort of a slightly "dated" feel and it's not...
Hi Dago,
thanks you for your reply.
I guess you haven't seen my earlier posts in this thread.
I know how to look up the production date via batchcode and also how current batchs smell - as...
Yes, if it's a new Hermes like H24 or Guerlain like the L'Homme Ideal Extreme, I feel it gets a special treatment here.
I'm sure the same happens when a new Dior or Chanel is coming out.
Of course...
I'm interested in fragrances since the 90s.
I joined Basenotes just a while ago to write in the forum and share some of my findings.
Besides that I'm guilty of having owned or do still own many...
Hello fellow Basenoters,
could someone of you please do me a favor?
I've just watched a video from Original Dogman on Youtube, where he's talking about having bought a "2016 batch" of Ultra...
Yes, I've read it - but it doesn't hurt to compare older and new batches on paper and take a look on the formulation code - which I've did. :)
If you go to Fragrantica, there are a lot of people...
I can see what some guys mean with "wet dog smell" when talking about AdG Absolu Instinct - but not with AdG Profumo.
And AdG Profumo is not officially reformulated, please take a look at my...
I like AdP Colonia, the original. Smells much better than Essenza imho.
But it has poor performance.
What about Lalique Encre Noire Sport? You haven't listed that one - I personally think it's...
Seriously out of all the videos I've watched where "women rate fragrances" Nautica Voyage was always appreciated by the ladies.
Certainly more than something like Aventus.
So if you want to get...
The last both fragrances I've tried on skin (just to give them a real chance, even on paper they weren't nice) and which I really wanted to scrub off at some point were JPG Le Male Le Parfum and...
Can't comment on the particular batch you've got.
But I had many different ones and there are also batch to batch variations.
On average the smell was more or less the same between 2009 to late...
Clearly Pulse of the Night.
Noir Argent is very nice too.
Noir Ambré and Or Encens are no Nuit d'Issey flankers so they don't count.
The second formulation (2011-late 2015) is nearly as good and I highly doubt that many people could smell the difference to the original formulation.
It's just a tiny little bit weaker but not much.
Yes she's Dutch. And she told her male viewers that she's bisexual so she does exactly know what's appreciated by the girls.
That's why she created a huge fanbase in relatively short time on...
Nice topic!
It's currently discussed on Youtube a lot.
There are advocates of overspraying like Michella aka Curly Fragrance:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy_kswybCPE
Hard to tell from the photos.
I've never seen a mismatch between batchcode on the box and batchcode on the bottle with any new Dior fragrance - and I had a lot.
So the least that has happened...
Heaven cries if you don't wear Fahrenheit at least every now and then. ;)
Can't comment on that, I've never been to Miami - but I guess it's a nice place to live.
Though I wouldn't run around only wearing a white speedo there. :D
Most fragrances are not even $2...
Thanks for your contribution!
This explains very well why I did not notice such big differences between individual batches within a year (which were only a few months apart in relation to the...
Thank you very much for your thoughts.
I also watched the entire video and refrained from giving a summary because I think it's really worth watching.
I liked it that he pointed out, that there...
That easily could happen and more often when you're constantly wearing only this one fragrance day for day.
In this case it helps to give it a break and wear something different or even nothing for...
I know that some guys here on BN thought I sounded like a broken record when I was recommending the late 2018 formulation of Dior Homme EdT (12244/A) over and over again. :cheesy:
As I've already...
I would prefer Acqua di Gio Quattro Stagioni EdP - that would be a great signature fragrance that could be worn all year round.
But please without the Funghi note but some real Oakmoss instead.
Please let's not forget that not Jeremy himself created the men's fragrances but master perfumer Alberto Morillas!
I like a lot of Alberto Morillas' work, AdG Profumo, AdG Absolu...
Jeremy said that he wanted to have his own fragrance boutique in Miami.
I guess you can order it from there or you visit him directly and eat a big wild salmon after having bought some fragrances...
Thanks for the kind words! :)
Just for the record - here's the thread: https://www.basenotes.net/threads/487093-All-you-need-to-know-about-Armani-Acqua-di-Gio-Profumo-2020-2021-Reformulation
That's not a new thing, they already have done that with Acqua di Gio Absolu > Acqua di Gio Absolu Instinct or Code Absolu > Code Absolu Gold.
Hm, I didn't want to open an extra thread for it so I've already posted something about it here:...
There are only 10 ml sizes of each fragrance, but a little bit pricey:
Office For Men 10 ml: 29 Euros
Date For Men 10 ml: 39 Euros
Black Tie For Men 10 ml: 49 Euros
I personally don't like...
That was just my subjective impression, maybe I've read the wrong threads on BN. :lipsrsealed:
I can only speak about my personal experiences.
I've kept decants of all the "not so good" batches and they haven't changed dramatically.
Of course a 2018 made in Oman batch was nice, but it...
I respect your opinion too.
I just trust my own nose regardless what any formula codes say.
It makes sense to me that Reflection Man doesn't smell the same like back in the days before it was...
Thanks!
I have to admit that I firstly didn't like it that much - it was just an "ok" fragrance for me.
But since the last 2 years it grew on me and I've worn it more often than I've thought I...
Hello everybody,
I've read in some fragrance forums that people reported that Acqua di Gio Profumo has been reformulated and watered down in 2020 so it only lasts for about 3-4 hours...
I...
Yes, Armani said they used a different kind of patchouli but what I've got was a weird pine smell on top and a certain "christmas tree" reminiscence, which just didn't fit to the aquatic notes.
I...
For those in the US who like the EDT it's probably worth picking up as long as it's available there.
Please see my thread about disconuations: ...
Absolu is probably the one which is the least similar to the OG ADG.
I can see why people who like the OG don't care for it - but it's well put together and better than most other Invictus-like...
To be fair, the AdG flankers are all worth the money.
There wasn't a single really bad one.
I find the original Profondo a bit "meh" but there are far worse designer releases out there.
And...
It has a very prominent lavender/barbershop note.
I really like how it smells 15 mins after sprayed on - unfortunately that doesn't last that long and after 1,5 hours you're left with a slightly...
I had many batches of Reflection Man and did a lot of comparison with different batches of new opened bottles.
Imho the scent itself changed a bit since 2017, more citric on top, way less flowery...
There's a new Profondo flanker out there, called Acqua di Gio Profondo Lights, probably a limited edition?
...
Ultimate was a good one yes.
But I like Code Absolu better.
Not really.
And I prefer The Scent Absolu over Private Accord and the original CH Men (or Grand Tour) over Privé.
But that's certainly a matter of taste.
The Scent Private Accord has that...
The new Code EdP smells like "Code" but it's not just an amplified version of the original.
The strategy reminds me a lot of what L'Oreal has done with YSL La Nuit de L'Homme EdP in 2019 (not the...
I've used to wear Egoiste a lot back in the 90s.
Still have an old bottle with a tiny little rest in it (just to sniff it from time to time).
The 2019 one I've worn was really good as I've said...
Tried Invictus Victory again and noticed that it seems to have some Norlimbanol in it, too.
That's probably what I associated with AdG Absolu Instinct which I've mentioned before.
So if you're...
No I've smelled the white one with Armani Kouros written on it... :cheesy:
Just kidding.
Of course I've tried the right one.
And I really don't like it and disagree with your opinion about...
Now I've also tried the new code EdP. Unfortunately, I am quite disappointed.
Imho the original Code smells better.
The EdP code is more one-dimensional and flat in comparison.
It may last...
If I did 6 sprays with the old 75 ml DHP it would last for several days.
Those Trojan Fragrances should bring up a Cubaknow fragrance.
I've sampled Ajmal Shadow II but I don't remember exactly how it smelled.
I know that I have the sample still lying around here.
What I can tell you is that at Ajmal same fragrance names aka...
You are right. Some SAs are really happy when they see a customer is genuinely interested in fragrances. I've experienced that too.
Yeah, can't go wrong with it! Blindbuy at least 10 bottles!...
I've found a good deal on AdG Profumo and got some more backup bottles.
The newest batch from 2021 still has the original formulation code, so there's no official reformulation yet and I'd say...
My first thoughts were "Oh a Spicebomb Baccarat Rouge version"... even if they were a bit late to the party.
Have you already tried the new Invictus Victory?
I personally like it the most out of all.
I'm just saying that it isn't a very risky blind buy.
But I wouldn't recommend it as I think there are better fragrances out there.
I'd also pick Encre Noire Sport over White any day.
...
I'm not sure if AdG Profumo is already reformulated.
You can check the formulation code that is printed on the box at the end of the ingredients list. If it's still B170230/1 it's not officially...
