Has anyone tried Mackenzie Reilly's fragrances? I'm curious because they all seem to have a marine bent. Not marine like military marine. I mean the notes listed for Mackenzie Reilly's fragrances...
SotD: En Passant by Giacobetti
I sampled it from Nordstroms in Seattle at Pacific Place Mall.
I think the S.A. was Anthony. He was really nice.
They were out of the 50 mL, so he sent me home...
Is this the same Nasreen who owns the shop in downtown Seattle? And if so, does her Vancouver store carry Amouage too?
I don't know about the Fashion Show Mall, but the mall in the Stratosphere has a pretty decent perfume shop, that also carries cartoon character perfumes.
That's okay. :) We moved again, and I lost my perfume stuff. Again. We keep moving. Maybe I'll find that stink bug when we move again.
Sunny Savina moved her shop to the University District this year. Still under construction, and it looks like she won't fully re-open until next year.
Sweet, green, peppery, musky and mimosa-like.........
Sounds like the smell of a Southern stinkbug.
I still have that stinkbug scentsitivity sent me. I was going to make a tincture, and haven't...
Beautiful!!!
I didn't know that. Gee, you've made me want to go to Midnight Mass this year, just so I can see if I can smell the piney notes.
Now there's an idea. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Another one to try would be L'Artisan Dzing! Some people say it smells like old books. I think it smells like herbivore poo.
I'm still waiting for a perfume with a durian note.
Sorry, hednic. I know my answer was kind of cheesy. I imagine it only grows in humid areas, hence Malaysia and Florida. I doubt it'd grow in the humid Pacific Northwest though. I imagine warmer humid...
Cheesewood? I've never even heard of such a thing. Stuff that cheese cutting boards are made of? Or wood the consistency of cheese? Or a cheese-smelling wood?
Imagine that as a note......
Top...
I think *that* is the one I saw at Parfumerie Nasreen in Seattle!!!!
Hi, Hednic, Red!
@Hednic: It grows wherever people plant it. :) The reason I know about it, is because someone planted a tree from seed in Florida. But per Wikipedia, it originates from Asia,...
I'm so glad you posted this. It's so weird that it coincides with my finding a vial of ambergris ?tincture from Dominique Dubrana. It was sent as part of one of his projects involving components of...
So, this Alstonia scholaris plant supposedly smells "evocative" to some people. And really stanky to other people. Made me curious as heck. What does it smell like? Is there a perfume that captures...
Oh, man! I wonder which one I tried today.... #1 or #2.
Whichever it is, I absolutely adore it, like in a big way. Like lemming-kind-of-way. The version I tried today is pale green in colour, and...
Every now and then I come across a perfume with a bottle that just sends me into giggles. Does this happen to you?
What bottles have made you laugh?
1. Lolita Lempicka - L
Made me laugh...
I agree. I was pleasantly surprised by the bottle lid. Or cap. Or lid.
I like the nice "CLICK" that it makes as it closes.
Scent-wise.... the most memorable one to me was "Dry Wood" mostly...
I finally got a chance to stop by Parfumerie Nasreen just inside the Alexis Hotel in downtown Seattle. It had so much stuff! But yes, she doesn't give out samples. She carries Amouage out the...
I never saw this until today. I thought it was hilarious.... a perfect spoof of the modern perfume ad.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JQ_bxt9trg
Yay! Happy ending! Glad she liked it.
... when you do winter cleaning, and realize all three of your kids have outgrown a newborn outfit sent to you by a Basenoter.
Okay.... so I always heard it said "bay-r-guh-moe".... but lately I'm hearing it "burr-guh-mott."
How does one pronounce "bergamot"?
Ohh! You poor thing! :) Yeah, sometimes it happens without your intending too. That happened with me and Anucci Man. :P I was suckered because it was being sold at a perfume fair, and I thought,...
If you want essential oils, there's a cute little apothecary under the Grand Central Bakery in Pioneer Square called the Hidden Alchemist. She made a custom hand crème for me with vanilla. She said...
Eh? Is Amouage no longer made in Oman?
I like Christian very much. He was very helpful. He is still there at Barney's in Downtown Seattle.
I haven't had a chance to shop in Bellevue. The traffic there put me off. It's easy to get...
I'm glad you posted this, purplebird, because I was wondering why I couldn't find Profumo's old group notes. It wasn't until Andrew_B emailed me and let me know that Grant switched back to the old...
I do too.

Got a ton of replies! I'll try to ship out this weekend. Everyone who messaged me, please send me your snail mail addy. I sure hope you're in the North American continent, but if not, that's okay...
Dior Hypnotic Poison, cuz I can.
Edit: Oh man! That was quick! Now if only people would respond to my craigslist "free furniture" ads as fast as they do my perfume ones!!!
My old offer is below. People have responded in...
I like purple. Purple likes me.
I don't know why I try to deny it.
When I put it on, it feels like home.
Guerlain Kiss Kiss Exalt Lilas again.
Dior Addict Stiletto. Very orange red. Feel like I could grab a barrel and distract bulls in this color. Add big red ball for a nose and some floppy shoes. What was I thinking!?!?
Hey! Fortune favors the prepared! :D
I wish I could say I'm in sync, but I am wearing Wylde Ivy's Green Grass today. It doesn't smell like grass. No. It smells like flowers. Spring flowers. ...
Embracing the purple again with Guerlain Kiss Kiss Exalt Lilas. I like the satin sheen.
I looked up fourreau and supposedly, it means scabbard. Is that so? What a strange name for a lipstick. But really, when I put it on, my first thought was that I looked like I'd eaten some medium...
I just love this. It makes it easier to let go of things, knowing I have to exhale. Even smelling perfumes. The whole act of smelling involves both breathing in and out. Ooo... Sorry, I'm getting...
Nasomatto Hindu Grass. I can't remember who gifted this to me. But THANK YOU! :D
Embracing the purple again today. Dior Addict 971 Fourreau. This is REALLY dark. More for evening really.
That's lovely, Evangeline. I'm wearing Clinique Different Grape today. I found it in my big stash of "Make Up I Never Use." I don't know why. Purple likes me. I need to learn to not fear the...
Oh my god, I so need to re-read this thread right now.
Aw, well, shucks. I probably wouldn't like it then. I am so vanilla. But, in another thread, people tell me it's not supposed to have vanilla, so then why would I smell vanilla in it? If that's...
Isn't that always how it is?
Today I am on my last tube of Guerlain's Kiss Kiss Rose Entetant. After this tube is gone (because it is discontinued), I will be a Kiss Kiss Rose Malicieux girl.
Any vanilla?
I found a suitable replacement for my discontinued Guerlain Kiss Kiss Rose Ententant. Guerlain Kiss Kiss Rose Malicieux last week. It's a little darker and has a little more orange, but it has the...
Happy birthday, jujy! Vintage Joy! That should be a bumper sticker: "I have vintage Joy!"
Robin-in-FL, 19 years is ... wow!! :)
I'm wearing Oud Cuir d'Arabie EDP by Montale which was a...
Perhaps it was the cocoa I'm interpreting as vanilla. Now I'm wanting to get a hold of some just so I can tear it to pieces. Dior Homme, Dior Homme Intense. Vintage. Definitely gonna hafta wait...
Well, I'll be honest. I was kinda hopin he was a Basenoter, and I could smoke him out. And now to make sure this thread devolves into a Creed thread, I will say this: It did not smell like Vanisia.
I am pretty sure it wasn't Hypnotic Poison, cuz I have two bottles of it. I don't think Hypnotic Poison is all that old either. :( Can you call something that is <25 yrs. old "vintage"? I guess you...
I thought Dior Homme was supposed to smell like flowers or lipstick. But then the vanilla would explain why Le Grand Duc likes it. Thanks, Dave!
Aw crap. I hate it when I smell something yummy and can't find it again. I went to the Natural History Museum in L.A. this week with the kiddo cuz he wanted to see the dinosaurs (been watching a LOT...
I admit I've been guilty of this, as recently as today. I do try not to do it too often....
I second the not doing make up in the subway. Or in public in general. In addition to being dangerous,...
That is an awesome analogy.
But that said, I sometimes wish I lived next door to Foetidus, and could smell his already-sampled stuff.
My favorite Guerlain Kiss Kiss Rose Ententant was discontinued. But the nice lady at Ulta helped me find something similar. Lancome Sheer Mousse is similar, but it doesn't have the staying power of...
I don't think Barbasol smells like Rive Gauche Pour Homme, but my dryer sure smells good right now. :D
When y'all say it smells like RGPH, do you mean back before they took all the alcohol out of...
OO! Thanks for that info, cazaubon. Do they sell samples, or bottles only? Cuz I am positive I cannot afford a bottle.
Stopped by Ulta today. They have Givenchy Dahlia Noir. And I didn't know Coach is making fragrances.
Just a note, I really like the staff at Ulta. Everyone is always super helpful. And...
I've really got to crack open the bubbly and compare, cuz I don't understand the aldehyde = champagne reference. Vraie Blond smells like Must de Cartier (citrus, amber, musk) + Macassar to me. And...
Hee! Yeah, funny how smells really can throw you. I've spent too much time on these forums, and now even looking at the name of a fragrance can trigger a long dead memory.
This is me, as well. And it is one of the reasons I thought I just didn't like perfume. I was just trying the wrong ones. I've sampled a ton of scents *marketed* for men, but the only ones I've...
Yum!
Today, I feel blessed to sample Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist Pearl Essence. Thank you, fume fairy.
Dunno what's up with the air in the world. But I wish it would straighten out soon. ...
That was me 3 years ago.
This is me 12 months from now.
Ugh, kbe. And I thought *I* was mean.
Bingo, kbe!
Now what about Pulse's puzzle?
My apologizes for answering late. I keep getting called away. Between taking care of a newborn, and being on call at work 24/7 I never really have a full moment to compose an answer.
Hee!...
Hope chest? :D
Good guess, docluv45. You're on the right track! I'll admit the answer is not Lonestar Memories, but it *is* two words.

Okay. :( Maybe it's not as easy as I thought....
I know kbe won, but before he can post another incredibly hard one, here's one that might be fairly easy:
Fragrance name only
...
My God, Riannon. kbe you've gotta be psychic or something.
White Sea by Micallef
(Thanks, socalwoman! :) It arrived yesterday!)
My goodness. This one is definitely different. It reminds me so much of Creed's Love in Black. that nuttiness. It must be...
Ah, that was a good one, Riannon!
Just out of curiosity, I have to ask, where is the image from?
Heh!
As for Riannon's latest puzzle... I too thought of Azrael.
But how about Revelation
by Pierre Cardin (2004)?
No no! I'm thinking!!!
Well, he's got all those fleur de lis on his cloak... so maybe
Fleur de Louis?
by Arquiste (2011)
Hmm.. but Arquiste has 6 perfumes listed in the directory.
I'd say Silky Underwear by Lush, but that's two words, not three!
Nice legs. Why do nobility always seem to have clothing with some kind of white with black spots on them?
But anyway, so it's not d'Orsay. Google-ing d'Orsay, he seemed more of a top-hat kind of...
Has anyone tried it? I haven't seen it in stores at all. Of course, I haven't really been shopping the last 10 months.
Yeah, I remember it's a door in Florence, Italy. But I think it's on a church.
----
Acqua di Portofino by Acqua di Portofino?
La Via del Profumo's Rose des Bois today, after a *VERY* VERY long while of not wearing it.
It's three years old, and I suspect some of the top notes are gone, but I still like it very much! ...
kbe's answer being Holy Smoke, I thought it did look like the little ball the priest swings around in Midnight Mass. So I'd guess Messe de Minuit, but prepositions are words too, right?
Frankincense?
(Will check back in the AM, too!)
LOL! Well, if it's the Chinese you're watching, we may need the Hubble Telescope someday!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9mjBPTBhr4
kbe, that there demostrates why your puzzles are so devious, because you think deviously! I am not capable of that level of devious. My puzzle was tricky only because of my carelessness! :)
...
*turning hot pink*
Oh, golly, Riannon. You've got two of the words in your comment alone!
Just the house is missing....
I mostly mentioned the locale to let Sophi know that it wasn't the...
We had a weird one. First it snowed, which meant I had to cancel my brunch party. Then husband threw up. So I was glad we canceled the party. Then I spent the rest of the day chilling with the...
Hi, musse! hednic! KBE! :)
Gosh, those are all good answers. But still not quite what I had in mind. Y'all got the color I was thinking of though.
Fragrance name.
Two words.
One word is...
Merry merry Christmas, Riannon! It's been so long since I played this game, I didn't know if anyone did anymore!
Nautica Blue could very well be an answer. But it wasn't the two word fragrance I...
According to the website (http://www.amouage.com/opus/), the Opus series is supposed to "transcend gender." Should you post on the Female Fragrance Discussion section too? :)
Hey, sophi! That's a lovely guess. But this picture was taken in warmer climes. :)
One of those words is correct though. And I guess I should have mentioned it's a two-word fragrance.
*snort* Love it.
New Puzzle: Fragrance name only
http://byuwek.net/progress-album/prachup-khiri-khan-c.jpg
Well, Kevin, ask and you shall receive.
I saw this article today Amouage’s new Factory and Visitors’ Centre opens. Why do they call it a "factory"? The word has different connotations, I...
Anucci EdT today. :) I just love the little *POP!* it makes when I take off the cap. It makes me laugh every time!
I'm lovin those flower pictures. I miss my violets from my old house greatly. Most wildflowers where I currently live tend to be yellow. A favorite exception of mine is the purple Tahoka Daisy. If...
SotE: Montana parfum d'homme red box not blue or green box. :)
Happy birthday, Mimi! I hope you got to spend it with loved ones who brought you yummy things! And Happy Anniversary, Red_Hot_Mama!...
A Wal-Mart had Rive Gauche PH???? Wow!
Hugs to you, ineespenes! :(
Well, the English Fern went well! So, I couldn't help but notice Evangeline pulled out Halston Couture a few days ago. So..... today I did the same. Wow! It's...
