Default Re: Welcome to Just Starting Out...

    Hi there Fragheads!

I've been enjoying this forum for a couple of months now; it’s become my new hobby during the COVID-19 Quarantine. So I thought I might start contributing instead of just receiving.
A few things I’ve discovered on this magical mystery tour so far:
    1) It’s not just about smelling good, it’s about loving what you smell like. You don’t wear cologne to please others, you wear what pleases you.
    2) After a few regrettable blind buys, I’ve learned that you cannot base your picks based on other peoples’ reviews. Fragrances are such a subjective experience. I’ve learned I love some popular fragrances, and that I also thoroughly dislike some very popular colognes. Fragrances may be experienced differently based on everything from body chemistry, weather, season, personal tastes, scent memories, etc. It’s a fascinating and fun journey!
    3) I love Ozoney Aquatics & Freshies, like Coolwater and Acqua di Gio respectively.
    4) I don’t like gourmand frags.
    5) I like many Chypres, Fougeres, and some “Orientals”
    6) I dislike the numerous popular Iris heavy, lipstick smelling frags of the previous decade. (I’m dismayed by why guys would enjoy that smell of old lady’s purse. I think Freud would have a field-day with that)
But hey, that’s just me, what do I know? “Chacun a son gout” as they say in French, right?

    Current Frag favs include:
    - TF Oud Wood (I was already hooked on TF Oud Wood before I started exploring all the different fragrances and styles. Even after the dozens of colognes I’ve tried, TF OW is still the best fragrance to me so far.
    - Aventus; and Rasasi’s Entebaa (as close to as perfect a clone as you'll find)
    - MontBlanc Explorer (similar, but different and very delightful)
    - Eau Sauvage Parfum (absolutely wonderful!)
    - AdP Colonia Pura
    - Davidoff’s Coolwater
    - Terre D’Hermes EDT
    - Armani Code
    - HeWood Rocky Mountain Forest
    - Quorum Silver
    - Dunhill Icon
    - AdP Colonia Leather
    - Perry Ellis 360 Red
    - Ferrari Leather Essence
    - Acqua di Gio (original, Profumo, & Profundo)
    - D&G Light Blue Eau Intense (freshie? aquatic? Yes, a nice hybrid)
    - Mr Burberry Indigo (herbal-foresty fresh done right!)
    - L’eau D’issey Fraiche
    - Polo Blue Gold & Deepest Blue
    - Varvatos Dark Rebel (& Rebel Rider)
    - Dunhill Edition
    - Gucci by Gucci pour homme

If you still need a post deleted, press on the triangle at the bottom left of the post to report it, and then just request a moderator to delete it.

If this is against reporting policy please correct me! But I think it's fine.

Welcome, Peter! I think you might need to be a Basenotes Plus member to joing the Lounge conversations. You can subscribe and then it also removes all the ads. You might want to check with a Moderator such as Bavard to confirm that.

Welcome Peter! To have access to the Basenotes Lounge I think you either have to have been a BN member for a certain amount of time, have made a certain amount of posts, or be a BN Plus member. Since you just joined Basenotes the quickest way for you to gain access the Lounge would be to get a BN Plus membership, as Juxtapozbliss noted.
