I used to only own one fragrance at the time, but it has been a while since I finished a bottle. I have recently decided to finish at least one bottle before purchasing (I have 5 full bottles, one 30ml decant, one 10ml decant and a few dozens of 2ml samples).
I have around 10ml left in my signature spring scent: Bleecker Street. So I might get myself a nice spring fragrance when it is done (unless I do not finish before May, in that case I'll wait next year because I will hardly use it afterwards for months).

The only bottle I’ve ever finished was Very Sexy for Him, all in one year(ugh). I think it was 2008-2009.

    I've finished bottles of:

    - Fahrenheit - Gorgeous scent, bad performance, so I sprayed and sprayed and oversprayed until the sprayer started sputtering and finally just released puffs of air.
    - Dior Homme Intense - My girlfriend's absolute favorite, so I dutifully sprayed until the bottle was empty. Then I bought another.
    - Terre d'Hermes - For a while I liked it so much it was all I would wear. I haven't bought a new bottle, though.
    - The One - If you have to spray at least 30 times before you can vaguely perceive an eau de toilette, it goes fast.
    - Lanvin Avant Garde - The scent was fine as wine, the bottle I bought really small. Too bad it is discontinued.

Yeah, but as a rule, they've been my no-brainer reach: Shalimar EdP, Opium EdP, 4711 splash, and Eau de Patou. A few years back, Rick tripped onto my 20-year-old bottle of Ma Liberté by Patou, and now we go through a bottle in 4 months. To paraphrase Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride, discontinued doesn't mean what I think it means. Rick has decided it means, "No worries, Beth will find another bottle!" And I do.... sigh.

I'm so terribly afraid of losing a scent. I've never used up a full bottle, because the scent could be reformulated and being lost forever. Stupid, I know.

If you have more than 20 bottles then maybe not much sense in a back up, it's just more FOMO.

If you have 10 or less then backups make sense.

Actually I haven't any back up scents.

The odd thing is, that you never know when a reformulation comes out. I hate reformulations.

I‘d also say do it. Freewheeling‘s assessment imo excludes the point that you may use some scents way more often than others, regardless of collection soze. If you really love it, buy a backup. If in time you see you don‘t need it, you can still sell it.

Just finished my first bottle of Lonestar Memories but its my second most worn. Luckily I have three backups

I also just finished my first bottle of Dior Homme Parfum which is my third or fourth most worn. Again, I have multiple backups.

Close to finishing off my first bottle of Opium Homme EdP although I wear that one a lot more in colder weather (was actually my most worn for the year last year)

So yes, I do finish off bottles

For a long time I was so obsessed in ordering samples that I forgot to enjoy my FB (own 5).
Kind of had a sort of epithany about that, now I paused my sampling and fully focus and enjoy the fragrances I own. One is soon empty

Not for a while now...LOL. My rotation is far too voluminous to finish a bottle these days. I do baby my..."babies" however, so I hope they'll all last long enough to finish them. There are so many amazing fragrances...It's an awesome problem to have!
