Default New Fragrance: Cartier Baiser Vole

    From fragrantica.com:

This year’s edition Cartier Baiser Vole, builds upon the oriental, mighty and passionate kiss of the dragon (Le Baiser u Dragon), announcing a more sophisticated approach and composition. The emphasis is on the game of excitement and anticipation.

Mathilde Laurent, who composed the notes, is responsible for tempting stolen kisses of Baiser Vole release. The story of pure passion is told by the ultra feminine essences of rare and elegant lily flower. The scent is announced as intensively floral, fresh and powdery.

With the first drop of fragrance, we encounter the scented pistils of the lily, the heart beats with refined and elegant lily petals, while the base notes offer green leaves of lily. The fragrance is available in an elegant glass bottle with golden stopper.

The range offers perfume water as 30, 50 and 100 ml and roll on perfume accompanied by a collection of body care products: body lotion 200ml, shower gel 200ml and deodorant spray 100ml. Baiser Vole fragrance is presented in 2011.

Talk about lost in translation -- I used a translator for the word "vole" (since I figured we weren't supposed to kiss the rodent) and got "fly" as a result.

When I asked the translator for the meaning of baiser vole, "stolen kiss" was the result. Whew.

I tried this and my initial impression was that is was a very beautiful lily fragrance. I definitely need to test this some more.

I tried this at Nordstroms . Lovely fresh green lily.

I am glad to see discussion of it. Here are my notes:
This scent is meant to convey an portrait of the various parts of a lily: pistils, petals, and green leaves. It succeeds in that goal, and quite well. This is a lovely floral. It is somewhat sweet, but it is not heavy and it retains a fresh quality. At times it has soapy or dewy notes, suggesting youth and Springtime. The phrase "pretty in pink" comes to mind. The lily theme is well done -- it really smells like that flower. It has the saffron-like pistils, the heady sweetness of the petals, and the perky crunch of green leaves. Not at all my style but I can appreciate it.

I tried it a month ago, and to my nose, it was all screechy synthetic notes. Zero prettiness, femininity or true floral anything.

I have tried this too and my first impression was that it is a beautiful, very elegant and classy but somewhat modern and edgy, somewhat understated lily, really liked it. It seemed really inoffensive and wearable as well, very likeable if you know what I mean. Not my HG but one I may want to get for everyday use. In trend with the veil fragrs these days, not that much sillage, something that would join Prada Candy and Mon Jasmin Noir on my shelves, something I would love to have and use as a veil when I do not need something louder but not HG category like Love, Chloe and Elie Saab Le Parfum are to me, in other words not something I could not live without but something I might find missing from my perfume wardrobe.

I really liked the parfum version of this much better than the EDP, which I found kind of synthetic. The parfum was a limited edition gift set for the holidays, but I saw something on a blog the other day which makes me think they might be releasing it as a general product, but it was not clear from the wording of the post.

I have not tried the perfume or known it was available, maybe it is not where I live but knowing myself I would surely love it more than the EDP, I always tend to favor intense versions. Hopefully it would be available later on but who knows.

Here's the info about the Extrait de Parfum version. It doesn't say if this is a different packaging than the limited edition gift set we saw at Saks, and I can't find a link to where to buy it.

I find it ultimately boring. A pretty and realistic lily but nothing groundbreaking, really.
