Default The Jewel of Micallef for Him - Micallef

    Has anyone tried this one?

The Jewel of Micallef for Him

Top notes of grapefruit, bergamot, orange, pink berries and pepper

Middle notes of cedar, vetiver and patchouli

Base notes of incense, moss, musk and benzoin.

I tried it today. Very nice. Soft. Warm. Intense.

There is no particular note that stands out. They all blend together to render this masculine and aristocratic fragrance.

I know Alfarom and Hednic would love it.

I have it in my collection. Received it last week from Micallef USA. A very nice spicy scent with very good longevity and sillage (at least on me)

    I knew you'd love it .

I don't know whether I like this or Avante Guarde more.

Was going to send you a private message about it but it says i can't send you a message. I wonder why.

Costs about $240. So yes double the price of a regular Micalllef. Well worth it though.

Do you have access to the Micalled brand? Or is that a Roma agenda.

I have this one, too. But for the money -- and I mean this with my whole heart -- to do again, I'd buy Jewel Woman in its favor, for any man I know.

Jewel Man is a fine, vaguely citric ISO-Super 'wood' scent for men. And compared to, say, Voyage, more exciting, but compared to, say, Honor Man, not all that great.

However, Jewel Woman is a totally unisex -- it leans toward the masculine, actually -- metallic chypre with the essential 'character' of Egoiste Platinum and the original Capucci, all classed up and equally presentable in bottle.

Sculpture of Soul, can you offer any thoughts on this? I know you, too, like Jewel Woman; have you compared it to Jewel Man yet?

Didn't try that one. Will do so when I get a chance. Thanks for suggesting it.

    Micallef sounds gorgeous.

I only tried Royal Muska and quite liked, but its so soft...

I think I may have tried this briefly when I bought Red Special Edition 2011. I remember liking it but not as much as Special Edition.

Hillaire, are the bottles for the men's and women's versions identical except for vertically oriented trim on the women's version and horizontal trim on the men's version?

I'm pretty sure I tried the one with the silver horizontal trim. I didn't see the one with the vertical trim. I need to revisit the shop and test the women's version if it is now available.

The bottles are identical except the color. The women's is silver-adorned and the men's is hematite-adorned.

    Hi Hillaire,

I haven't compared them as I never received Jewel Man. Was it sent out recently or should I assume the package went MIA? Hopefully the former, although given that you mentioned it quite awhile back and with USPS' track record I fear the latter.

Hmmm...now I'm confused about which one I actually tried. I think it was silver, but it could've been hematite, which I assume is a dark reddish gray color. Another trip to the shop is definitely called for!

    Noggs, photos courtesy of AusLiebeZumDuft:

This one is silver, to my eyes:
    woman

This one is hematite to my eyes:
    man

The ladies one in person is not at all pink; it's straw. I also see the ladies has a vertical stripe, whereas the mens has a horizontal stripe.

I'm pretty sure the one I tested was the men's version. I will go back and see if they have the women's version.

Yeah, he has great eBay deals to be sure. I usually try and snatch things up from him that way, but *someone* seems to keep outbidding me on all the good ones. ;-)

The blind buy on this one definitely paid off. I am wearing it now (the for him version), and have worn it a couple days in a row. It is interesting that Hillaire mentioned Voyage from Hermes because that was the first scent that came to mind that it vaguely reminds me of. It also has a bit of the Invasion Barbare vibe going on as well at its heart. That said, I easily prefer it to both of those, and when you combine the best qualities of them both in The Jewel of Micallef for Him, I find it just "works". Relatively subtle, but still manages pretty decent projection and sillage. Longevity for me is about 9-10 hours (average for me). Next to Yellow Sea, this is probably my second favorite Micallef.

I get both, to be honest... That said, if I had to pick one, I would lean to the woody side of things, as I get a lot of cedar in it. I confess I am a sucker for scents that use cedar wisely.

Thats why I asked I felt it was partially woodsy and partially spiced.

Opens up like terre d'Hermes for my nose at the least...citrusy vibe that is.....then the citrus opening kind of mold together with woods and spices to create a classy scent....very good but the price is just.......expensive...maybe I'll give it a try when the summer approaches.

My very first impressions from a quick sniff on paper: CDG 2Man + a hint of Terre d'Hermes. I get a strong resemblance to 2Man, though.
