    Default Knize Ten Golden Edition

    Hello everybody,
i need some help here from our Knize Ten specialists.
I have decided to blind-buy a bottle of Knize Ten Golden Edition and it came today.
What troubles me is that the box looks totally different than the ones in the internet.
The perfume comes in a plain black box with no writing or other colour on it, just the black box.
This box is "packed" in a black paper. And now comes the good part.
On the front of this black paper there is a sticker (not engraved!!) with the trade mark of the firm but no mention about golden edition.
On the back side of this paper there is another sticker with informations about the perfume inside.
Here you can read that this is the golden edition with ref. 7290 (Toilet Water Spray)
Below that Knizer Parfumeur GmbH and an address in Germany:
Lena-Christ-Strasse 46, 82152 Martinsried Deutschland, Made in Germany
There is a CHB number bellow it which is 22892.
At the bottom of this paper there is a sticker barcode.
Now in order to get the bottle out you would have to tear this paper or just pull it out after opening the top (which was already been done from the seller before and where i removed the bottle from this paper from).
The bottle itself look like the ones i have seen in the internet. At the bottom of the bottle there is again CH22892 in black letters (this is a stamp number).

What exactly have i bought???? Could that be a fake?
I would appreciate some help here.
Please have a look at the photos

To me it looks fine; I own a bottle from around 2009, the bottom sticker and the address are identical.

Thank's easyfish. So the bottle is fine in your opinion, but what about the box or better say the paper around it?
I attach h photo of the box as i know it from the internet, it is certainly different than mine, do you have an explanation for that?
Is it possible that there are several editions of the perfume and the one i posses is an older one?
I could not find something similar

Mine got the box as shown in your pic, but the paper wrapping (special edition, economy measure....?) wouldn´t bother me...
    What about the scent?

    The scent smells great.
I do not believe that for a special edition as the golden one, KNIZE would put the perfume in a plain black, wrap it after that with black paper and stick a normal Knize Ten sticker on it.
If you tear the wrapping paper (and everybody does) you have a nameless, plain black box, no information whatsoever about the perfume inside it.
It does bother me a bit i have to admit easyfish

Not an expert here, but it could have been intended as a tester or the like. If the smell is good, I wouldn't worry.

Do testers come in boxes? Anyway the scent is very nice, kind of sweet for my taste but it will do.

I have a tester and it came in a black unmarked cardboard box (it was already unwrapped when I got it).
The golden edition is supposed to be mellower than the edt (at least the previous incarnations, some BNers noted a decline in edt quality in the very latest batch).

I bought it 3 or 4 years ago and it came in a white box. I wonder where in Germany they manufacture this stuff. My mind wonders...

There's more to it than that. The Golden Edition is more floral to me, with the leather still there but somehow toned down. It doesn't have that blast of petroleum when you first apply it, or the smoky leather in the drydown. Personally - I love the original K10, but don't like the Golden Edition enough to warrant a full bottle. The difference is just too much for me. I'm sticking with the original K10 as the preferred option.

To the OP - I've only ever seen Golden Edition in that black box with gold top and bottom, never in just plain black paper wrapped cardboard. It may be a tester... or there may be more to it - like others have noticed Knize has likely recently reformulated some of their fragrances so if that is true - they may have changed some packaging at the same time as well.

If it smells great, don't worry! Just a package / bottle print change, like they did with the original KT.........

I don't know if I can be of help. I own a bottle of the "old" K10 and when I had bought it I too was astonished to see it had been manufactured in some obscure place in Germany. As a matter of fact, Martinsried is a suburb of Munich where there are lots of outlet stores and the like. So they probably mix K10 in some backroom and then sell it. This may be due to the fact that they don't sell it in huge quantities but that it is only "for the discerning gentleman".

Personally, I think it's not for everyday use but certainly one of the very best scents ever produced. No Creed or Chanel or any of the mass-produced stuff can hold a candle to it in terms of quality. So enjoy your bottle. I'm sure it's the original. I even remember seeing the Golden Edition in a black wrapper.

Hello Luis and thank you for your feed-back. I have also made some research the last 2 days.
You are right about Munich and the outlet stores in Martinsried.
But the address i gave is where all Knize perfumes are produced. Which means that the perfume cannot be a fake.
You see many people think that Knize perfumes are being produced in Austria.
This is wrong. Knize sold the perfume production rights to a german millionaire and he manufactures all the fragrances at the address given above in Germany.
This guilts only for the perfums and not for other products which are still being produced in Austria.
Have a look at this URL, sorry for the non german speaking members, the URL is in german and informs that at the address i gave is the place where the
PERFUMERIE KNIZE produces and distributes the perfumes

Wow... that's rather odd. Why would the Knize company sell off just the perfume rights to some individual, while keeping the rest of their business going? They are so well known for their fragrances. Well, we don't know if they have been outsourcing the production to some 3rd party... but if so, transfer of rights would be pretty easy to do. I wonder how long ago this happened?

Can't tell when that happened cytherian. But it did, and the onw who bought the rights was the creator of the Golden Edition Mr..Heinz Gottschalk
