    PLATINUM EGOISTE

I eschewed this of years because I always read it was nothing like original EGOISTE which I love. And it isn't. But it's a nice take on a fougere in it's own right.

Just got Chanel 1957 and I'm wearing it as my sotd. I got this one as it looked unique amongst the standard fare of fragrances. And wow I've never smelled anything like this, it's one of those out of the ball park smells. In that it's very different to anything else.

Bright sparkling fresh aldehydes opens this scent up followed by orange blossom. From here the scent is very complex and nuanced as it progresses on your skin. I get silver musk, neroli, cedar, bergamot, hint of honey and other notes constantly shifting on your skin showing different aspects. Very nice and refreshing to have a scent that tantalizes the senses.

Phaedon Tabac Rouge was the choice for me today after perusing a bunch of LuckyScent samples. I chose very well. Really enjoying this on a gloomy, overcast day.

    Full-bottle worthy? Maybe.

I have been craving pipe tobacco as Fall approaches this year, and Tabac Rouge is high on my test list. Funny, I was never much of a pipe tobacco note fan before, and suddenly I can’t get it out of my head.

    Avon Excalibur (1969)

I bought this at an antique store, and the fragrance is housed in a giant old coin decanter. I liked the after shave-like smell, but felt it was still too retro for even me.

I'm wearing it right now, and it actually smells a little more younger than the other offerings from Avon at the time. To me, it smells like it could have still been worn in the early 80s. I'm really digging it. It's a little spicy. I think all old school Avons are, but it keeps that watery, AS splash vibe throughout the duration of it's dry down. I like that.

I just need to swap it out for a not-so-ancient-looking decanter. I relegated this to bottom shelf status, but I'm glad I wore it today. It's gonna be shoulder to shoulder with Polo and Drakkar Noir on the top shelf.

Richard James Saville Row for me. I love the smoothness of this, how subtle it is and how the base creeps up after an hour on skin.

    L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme

Sometimes you just need some searingly fresh, aquatic yuzu goodness over a woody base.
One small spray of this has no right to be so potent, especially for a fresh scent with an atomizer that puts out so little juice.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.

A masculine iris that predates all the others from DIor and Prada, but is massively slept on because it is from an obscure label that often goes into discounters unnoticed.
