Original is my fav. Gotta go rather easy with it, too, as it can become too much.

Another vote for Icon Original, so far managed to like this most from its entire lineup, rather than any of its flankers (up to this point at least)

After havind made some sampling (and shopping), I can say that no flanker of this line is groundbreaking or unique, but most are very pleasant to wear.

I can tell that my favorite one is Icon Absolute (similar to Versace Oud Noir) despite its poor projection issue, best for winter use. It's followed by the original Icon (very pleasant but again, some other houses have better interpretations of neroli imo), best for Spring. Icon Elite is not bad either, a more mature YSL La Nuit vibes, best for Fall.

I don't care for the summer flanker Icon Racing. Not that it smells bad, but it's just the most generic of the line and smells like another 100 frags I've smelt before.

    My thoughts are similar.

Absolute (it is far ahead of the others to my nose; I love love love this, makes me smile)
Original (unique; I am a sucker for violet leaf-ish, and that's what I get from this; also a semen note)
Elite (is ok, I don't reach for it; too dry)
Racing (wannabe GIT and not very good? I have no patience for it)
    Waiting for Hednic's 8th star

    Absolute!
Dug this, then went a little cold on it.
This afternoon, I felt like an oud kick and popped this on. Just noticed the funky dirty oud for the first time, always came across more medication/band aid. I mean not as instantly likeable as say Halfeti which I'm also sampling, yet I'm really digging this as it mutes down ( a lot!) And feels like wet n ashy, a bit musty and fusty ( s'how I likes em) , not getting any of the spice or floral as previous ( thinking climatic changes - first got my hands on in summer and my body chem make up right now) and a worn in leather whiff.
Anyway yeah I'm rather soft for Absolute

The original is the only one that works for me, and I think it's best-enjoyed as a cool-weather scent. I find it best-balanced on chilly days, when it feels a bit darker, woodier, and coniferous. In warm weather, it feels a bit unbalanced to me.

Icon suffers from some lower-tier materials (if it was built of Amouage-tier materials it would really be a showstopper), but it's still quite cleverly built. I like the idea of giving a neroli EDC a dark, woody base in the contemporary style (it's a more satisfying concept, for me, than the likes of ADP Essenza just slapping neroli on top of some darker patchouli).

To put it disrespectfully, among the many, many famous brands that Inter Parfums offers as a fragrance license holder, producer and marketer,
    unfortunately only below average here.
But because they want to make more profit, more and more unnecessary flankers!

"To put it disrespectfully" to whom? The OP or the brand itself? I hope you mean the latter since I don't think OP said anything particularly wrong.

Also, your reply doesn't really answer the question, but your opinion on Interparfums however tangential is noted.

I prefer the original Icon if asked to pick a favorite.

Fragnet sells a set of the entire collection for around $13 with code, you get I think eith 7 or 15 ml sample/bottles. It's a great price considering that's probably what someone on Ebay would charge you for one.

Anyways, with that said.. here is my order from favorite to least, with a brief description to why I chose this order. From Best to worst.

Dunhill Icon: The best of the batch imo, it's perfectly done, and really could have done well and been a success without the other 3 flankers. It's a perfect citrus frag for the mature business man, it has great performance, and great presentation, if you care about bottle and aesthetics, which a lot of us do

Icon Elite: This one is surprisingly good. The opening gives me a soft rose vibe, maybe like a soapy rose? Then it gets very woody, but not the boring old screechy sharp chemical woods we get bashed with in a lot of dry downs. Very wearable, and also, not at all feminine, despite that description. I may get a bottle when I finish my sample. Also, it kinda reminds me of Rose 31, or Dunhill X-Centric (ya that's a throwback). Then again, it also doesn't really reminds me of anything.

Icon Racing: Now we start to decline with this very run of the mill, Ambroxan heavy, chemical, synthetic, BLUE bomb. Good if you want compliments, maybe, if that. I work with a good amount of people, and got no complements the few times I've worn this. Maybe a good gym scent?

Icon Absolute: Yuck from top to bottom. First let me say that I am partial to oud, I simply don't like it in most cases, because most ouds put into fragrances are not real oud. So I will always remain skeptical, that a oud fragrances can be sold for under $30. With that said, Icon Absolute is the epitome of fake synthetic, screechy oud. It's horrible from start to finish, it's obnoxious, it's extremely unbalanced, and it honestly just makes me sick when I smell it. I was gonna go on breaking down the fake ingredients this thing lists, but I deleted that, it's best I just focus on the fragrance as a whole, and it's just simply not good. Fwiw, this is also one that I had all of my friends smell on me one day, which were 6 people, and only 1 person said it was "ok", the rest showed clearly with facial gestures that they disliked it and verbally said so too. Also, I think the reviews which are 3 negative out of a total 7 reviews from BN'ers on here should also give you something to show. I would just avoid this one at all costs, as well as maybe Racing, unless you really want a decent "blue" scent, I think Racing is better than say Bvlgari Aqua Atlantique.

Not OP and not the Dunhill brand was meant, but Inter Parfums!

The Original grew on me since I started working in a office. However, I voted racing because it's the only one I owned and found it pleasant, versatile and playful.
Wont buy it again, my tastes changed in the last couple of years. Now I'd find it too immature/generic but still a fine designer imo

I have and like all 4, but the original and Elite are my favourites. Absolute is very nice but it just performs very poorly on my skin. Racing is also nice, but is the most 'ordinary' of the 4.
My current top 10 (subject to change) in no particular order:

Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Essenza de Zegna, Zegna Essenze Amber Gold, Armani Privé Sable Or, Armani Privé Vétiver Babylone, Mancera Cedrat Bois, Acqua di Giò Profumo, Amouage Dia Man, L'Artisan Explosions d’Emotions: Amour Nocturne, Zegna Essenze Italian Bergamot/Acqua di Bergamotto

It's a good point. The quality and originality of the concept and composition aren't matched by the ingredients.
I still like it, but it could have been a step up.

This is why I want Dunhill to release an "Icon Parfum" that at least upgrades it to the quality of the (overpriced, but still a step up) Signature Collection.

I think Benaïm deserves credit, though, for making due with the budget he was given. He didn't phone it in. What a perfumer does with limited materials often says more about their imagination and abilities than what they can do with complex, rich materials, and in this case he succeeded.

Benaïm's Dunhill Century, too, was also distinctive, and should be considered an Icon flanker given the way it reuses Icon (though I found it kind of repellent). Benaïm's Indian Sandalwood, however, was a crushing disappointment.

Agreed on that one too. It's like they blew up the budget on Moroccan Amber and British Leather, and there was no money left for the sandalwood one lol
