    Default Goodwill/Thrift store finds!

Decided to stop by the Goodwill near Downtown Seattle today (fun fact - it is the largest Goodwill in the country!) and found some pretty great stuff that I managed to pick up for a grand total of $8. Pictured below is my haul, minus one additional bottle of each Le Labo that are already in the bathroom:

    67831850_580558912348987_5021856696570478592_n.jpg

All the Le Labo stuff (lotion, shower gel and shampoo) is Rose 31; there's also Molton Brown Gingerlily and Enlivening Toko-Yuzu body wash, Penhaligon's Quercus conditioner, Bvlgari Eau Parfumee de Thé Vert lotion and L'Occitane Verbena shower gel.

In addition to those, I found this extremely vintage looking bottle of Oeillet Bleu (Blue Carnation) from Roger et Gallet. If anyone knows any details about this particular bottle, please chime in! Gave it a whiff and it smells very vintage - the closest thing I can think of is some of Rogue's offerings like 40 Rogue. TONS of clove in the top, lots of florals and maybe something animalic in the base. Haven't tried it on yet, but just sniffed from the splash bottle.

Anyone else had any luck with thrift store or Goodwill finds? I didn't even go in there to look for fragrances, but ended up getting distracted by all these goodies.

Congrats on these. There was a thread recently that discussed various hotels that offered complementary bath and grooming products for guests, Le Labo being one of them that was offered. I wonder if those Le Labo bottles were originally distributed by a hotel?

Lovely finds. I remember a hotel with le labo rose so it’s possible that that’s the source

Thanks, N.CAL! I think they must have come from a hotel - apparently Rose 31 was made specifically for Fairmont Hotels. There were quite a few of them all in "grab bags" with a mix of other stuff, but mostly Le Labo. I actually have a friend who works in the hotel industry who has offered to grab me some free Le Labo stuff from the place where she works, so it must be fairly common in upscale hotels.

It does seem pretty old - I looked up pictures of other bottles and actually couldn't find this one in particular, but it's a different style from what I assume are (relatively) newer bottles.

Lucky. My brother is a thrifter and he's found tokyomilk bulletproof for a dollar and more recently a bottle of Carthusia Io capri for a couple bucks. I've told him to keep an eye out for old bottles of fahrenheit lol.

Fun finds! I found a vintage bottle of Aramis JHL at Goodwill last year. It wasn’t “cheap” by thrift store standards (Goodwill is getting better at pricing things), but even the new version goes for stupid prices online.

Wow nice find! I’m definitely encouraged to scope out goodwill more often now.

I’ll occasionally find other fragrances in the glass cases at Goodwill, but nothing worth shaking a stick at. You’ll sometimes also find them on the “beauty” shelves as well. I found a 99 cent box of Elizabeth & James sample vials (Rose and Bourbon) by digging through the buckets there. Otherwise, it’s been slim pickings.

Hmm yeah, I actually found all this stuff in the beauty section. They did have a few bottles in the glass case, but nothing particularly special. I think the Oeillet Bleu ended up with the beauty stuff just because the bottle is so small - 1/8 oz, so it's the same size as all the other hotel toiletries. I split my time between Seattle and Northern California, so when I'm back down in the Bay Area I'll have to scope out some of the SF stores.

Congratulations for you find and wishing you to enjoy them!

So far, never found any such impressive fragrance offers in Goodwill or thrift stores, yet far more often as "third option" or a multiple one.
While simply going through stores, both specialized in fragrances and the ones not having scents as their main line of activity (including brick and mortar, heavy discount and more upscale priced supermarkets, pharmacies/drugstores etc.) and without browsing for anything special, surprisingly finding an unexpectedly good perfume deal.

I love thrift stores and antique shops. I go fairly often. I have never yet seen one bottle in any store that I thought was cool or wanted to buy regardless of the price. Always think I should see some, but no cigar.

Ok, had to bump this thread because I think I found the Goodwill deal to top all Goodwill deals: a full 100 ml bottle of Guerlain Nahema for the grand total of $14.99!

This was purchased at the Capitol Hill Goodwill in Seattle. I also previously got a 60% full 120 ml Creed Himalaya there for $45. Maybe it’s just Seattle, but I’ve found a number of good deals there. I do stop in the stores once or twice a week, and almost never find anything. Just takes dedication I guess!

    Hi jk,

Nice finds! I have for many years purchased Fragrances from the likes of "Thrift Shops" etc. A couple of my best scores was a NIB Bottle of "Santa Maria Novella" Gelsomino for (if memory serves) either twenty or twenty five Dollars that I found earlier this year. A very recent nice find (last week) was a Vintage (FULL) bottle of Lanvin Arpege Perfume (with Atomizer) Set in Original Box which also included a second 1/2 travel Perfume. Five dollars!

Congrats, jkonick! That’s excellent, in every respect. Wishing you great enjoyment of Nahéma.

I have found some perfumes in the Sally Ann in the past but nothing recently. That can only mean a find is due!

Wow those are some nice finds! Never underestimate the thrift store! And thanks everyone else, I’m wearing the Nahema today and it’s perfect in hot, humid weather. Love a good chypre on a hot day!
