Van Cleef & Arpels pour homme : which formulation is this one ?

I have read that 3 versions of VC&A pour homme can be found : vintage, 1st reformulation (not very good) and 2nd reformulation that apparently is closer to the vintage one. Can you tell from which version comes this bottle ?

Agreed. No “Eau de toilette” anywhere on the bottle. I think first version has it sitting low on the bottle and second has it up just under the fragrance name. Then there’s a “concentree” version that says 85% on it and/or the box.

At one time, I thought it was special, i.e. distinct from the EDT. Then at some point, I got it in my head that the Concentrated Cologne was probably just the Eau de Toilette, but with a different name. I can't say I really looked into it, though.

It’s a fair point and one worth asking. I feel certain observed bottles that are 85% and considered to be Concentree but also state Eau de Toilette on the bottle. Idk. Maybe I’m going crazy. I haven’t had coffee yet. Lol! Maybe the 85% was the original release? We surely need an expert to chime in here.

You’re certainly welcome. I wish I had better concrete information regarding this fragrance. I believe 45€ is acceptable for 100ml. The going rate in the US seems to be (in many cases) a minimum of $70/100ml. So 45€ would not make me uncomfortable. I believe this is a fragrance that will get some measure of hype eventually and that we will see absurdity in pricing.

Okay, got it. Compared to what most sellers charge now, I'd say 45€ is a 'grab it now'!
For referrence, most prices in europe are easily 100++€.

3rd version which is very close to the 1st version I don't know what they was thinking with the all black box the 2nd box, it's not bad at all, but it went really synthetic on that one and they came with the 3rd for VCA pH and Tsar ..both 3 Rd versions of each resembles the original the most ..I have that bottle and it's becoming one I the most I miss wearing went I do my rounds with my collection , something about VCA and Tsar is just makes me addicted to the smell..I have many good fragrnace and these two are my top ones

This one is really really opaque !- the 2 others I have you can see contents - dim room - phone torch - ta dah.

Hoping the temp changes in transit settle down.
This smells close to ODLR Pour Lui - not what I was expecting. Hoping to hope(!) that it hasn't turned either.

Getting a lot more dry spice - clovey cinamon - than experienced prior. Different rose - like 'Tibet' face cream - more powdery than accustomed to. Not getting any animalic - none of that thudding humid animal salivic nigh on filthy undertone I'm used to. First sprays after transit always throw me right off so.... eek face emoticon.

Owned first edition but emptied that one 2 years ago......now 'stuck' with 4x 100ml (not all full) of last edition (leaf pattern box 18th post) which I love as well!

Pffff yeah man, am quite bummed. I think its turned. I had that "so want it to be ok" urgency, but I heeded Hednics advice from some time ago, that I often recall - if unsure or its stressing , out it goes.
After a few days acclimatising, I thought the test would be... does it smell like VCAPH and honestly, I didnt get that from it, it didnt hit me first off as VCAPH, or even until about 2 hrs later by which time it was skin. So zip power and off for about 2 hrs. Had to go!
The rose got a bit Hamam Bouquet rose stanky.
And further more, yes you can see how precious I had got about it (!), the VCAPH I know has spectacular clarity, this was dense, mushy, slushy like a car tree 'freshener'.

Lol I'm feeling grumpy about it and a few others that are turned.
Well it was a thrill anyway!!!!!!!
