    I agree. Much much better.
FYI: I spray all fragrances on clothing, never on skin.

Tabac Rouge has such a smooth and inviting drydown.

I feel like most people only pay attention to what they smell in the air. They pay no attention at all to what a scent leaves their skin smelling like after the phase of projection has ended. Not caring about the drydown seems bizarre to me. So many scents these days use extremely harsh chemicals in the base, leaving behind an ugly scratchy smell of synthetic junk. Luckily, Tabac Rouge isn't that kind of scent at all.

Tobacco Vanille isn't as you say either though. Now one can claim faults in the Tom Ford such as a linear drydown (which is nothing more than a stylistic choice, not an actual issue), or they just don't enjoy it as much, however a harsh chemical base is hardly an appropriate description.

I was making an observation about harshness in general, but I will say that the drydown of Tobacco Vanille is nowhere near as smooth as Tabac Rouge. Tobacco Vanille was designed to be a screamer of a scent. Tabac Rouge clearly was not: it wears in a much more gentlemanly way, and it's smoother, especially up close.

I tried Tobacco Vanille a couple of weeks ago and thought it was amazing. To me, Tobac Rouge is on another level. I reckon I've tried maybe 100 or so fragrances in the past year (novice!) and this is JUST second to Naxos which just blew me away.

I've got a sample of Tabac Rouge in my cart along with a few others. Its been on my list to sample for years now.

I've always heard its similar to Tobacco Vanille so that's why I put it off for so long. As far as Boclet and Tobacco Vanille go, I owned Boclet Tobacco but to me it was basically a TV clone so I sold it off. But this is just to my nose.

Is Tabac Rouge that close to TV?

    My thoughts updated.....!

    I really like TV.
    I really, really like TR.
I really, really, really like Naxos!

Have got some other tobacco decants to look forward to - Feuilles De Tabac, Mystery Tobacco, Boclet, Red Tobacco and Pure Havane. Wonderful smelling these scents for the first time and definitely my favourite genre (is that the right word?) of fragrance I think.

    They are pretty close, yes.

TABAC ROUGE has a bit of cinnamon where TOBACCO VANILLE has clove.

I thought TABAC ROUGE was more discreet yet still pretty potent.

They don't smell exactly alike, but anyone familiar with one of them, would find the other very similar.

Hm so Iíve been meaning to pick up a bottle of tobacco vanille but Iíve heard the new bottles arenít as good as the vintage releases. Do you think tabac rouge is a better alternative? Big fan of vintage TV though

If you found Boclet too close to TV to your liking, you'll probably feel the same way about Tabac Rouge. But I think Tabac Rouge is the best-balanced option of the three.

That's really a personal preference thing I'd say.

I don't know how much I think TOBACCO VANILLE has really changed. I'm sure it happens all the time, but I'm always a bit skeptical about reformulation theories. Especially on scents that have only been around 10-12 years or so. But I have not smelled TV in many years.

I would just say if you liked one of them, you would like the other as well.
