Vintage Fragrances I bought today - 2020

I had a sample of Cologne Concentree a while ago. Very enjoyable. I don’t recall why I didn’t pursue a bottle. Not precisely. I think I was hunting down Ungaro 1 and Platinum Egoiste, and then I kept chasing other items. Which is exactly why I want to completely revamp my collection. In short, I want to purge everything from my collection that’s not something I absolutely love, no matter it’s value, and then refill it with my loves (and backups). Now I just need to find the time to separate what can go. Lol

I'm in the process of doing exactly that. After rough sorting I've put 2/3 of my collection up for grabs.

I’m certain I could easily do the same. I just need to dedicate the time to sort out who’s leaving and who’s staying. Ironically, I’ve only done the opposite over the last month... by purchasing at least 4 fragrances. LOL! Pathetic huh? But only one was new, as the others were backups to stuff that I just can’t live without... like Xerjoff’s Nio. It’s just one of those fragrances that work well with my chemistry and style.

Not at all pathetic. On the contrary. It makes perfect sense backing up/acquiring fragrances you love. At least that's what I'm aiming towards. Trying to emotionally disconnect from the bottles you must rid of is hard, but very doable, and gives you a relaxed feeling of ease when done. Problem is when the loved ones and backups one wants to acquire come with a steep price-tag LOL!

Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur

This smells a bit like a 70s musk, but there's I guess an orange note that makes it more tolerable to my nose and kind of welcoming. This isn't necessarily something I would wear, but I can definitely see why it was popular in it's day. It's pretty nice. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how much I ended up liking it.

Back to storage, was investing a bit there till covid called a new game. Never thought of BNers, if renting not buying, as part of the story there but it fits with the demographics/accumulation theme. Maybe if get back to that can then use the profits..... to buy more fragances/??!!!!

I don't think you'll see Bally Masculin much anywhere. I chased it down based on a couple of BN raves, and I am not disappointed. If I had to guess (and I do), I'd say Bally paid good money for the formula but didn't account for an adequate promotion/distribution budget. Maybe they just sold it in Bally stores. They even had a shaving kit:

But I've never seen a Bally fragrance ad. A sole eponymous feminine seems to be the only other fragrance Bally ever issued, and that one is even more obscure.

I think renting storage space for personal fragrances would be an indication that one has too many. For now, I just need to think about buying a second cabinet.

Yes indeed! This effort will certainly cost me more than I’d like and I won’t be able to just flip what I have into something I want without taking some sort of hit. BUT, I’ve taken far less of a possible hit due to far Basenotes members who are selling and, of course, the graciousness of close members. To all I say thanks for that. And as we speak, I’ve reached out to someone with stuff for sale and anxiously awaiting a reply! Haha!

Bought it from an Italian eBay seller. Turns out they dropped their last 100ml bottle, but offered to send two 50ml instead, so it’s all good. I can confirm after it arrives if you need a source.

Been a lot of talk about them both in the forum of late. I’m more curious about the Oleg Cassini because I love the original Jovan version, but I figured I’d spring for both to get the most out of high international shipping costs.
