What a great looking bottle! I'll be very eager to hear what you think of this one when you get it. I've never seen it before.

Update: I see there are a couple of bottles of extrait on eBay, and they have little sticks of sandalwood in the bottles, and are housed in wooden caskets. Intriguing.

Thank you, sir. I've been looking for months for just the right Monsieur Rochas, and then I managed to snag this one for a whopping $30.

I'll let you know. Myrurgia Maderas de Oriente is reputed to be an exceptional sandalwood-based oriental. That's a stick of sandalwood inside the bottle—no idea whether it's Mysore. I've also read favorable comparisons to vintage Vol de Nuit. Not sure how the cologne compares to the extrait, having never tried either, but this particular bottle represented an opportunity I couldn't pass up.

Good things happened is what, a string of winners, love the rochas and fidji, the cerruti I had but moved as it was very very close to Insense which I have. I'll be interested by your thoughts on the Myrurgia

I've read a few comparisons of Nino Cerruti to Insensé (no doubt including yours). I only just managed to snag a reasonably priced 1 oz bottle of the latter, too. Still, FBs of NC are hard to come by these days, so I went for it. I'll do a shoot-out when the NC arrives—which might be a while, as it's currently in Greece.

Is this the earliest formulation from the 70s? I own a decant from the late 80s and it's wonderful. It has a nice rose chypre feel.

I believe so. My mom used to have one of these canisters on her dresser, and I passed it over to sneak sprays of her Emeraude. Now, from what I’ve read, it seems RG may be a good one for me. Looking forward to it.

    This looks like 1986-1992
I.like this edition. It retains the Tin Rose and blast of Adelhydic Just a little less creamy Sandalwood.

The top is indeed very reminiscent of Jicky with the lavander, louche civet and vanilla, soon however spices and woods pulls it closer and closer toward oriental territory and away from Jicky's classic (and perhaps seminal) fougere accord and gently but surely toward woody spicy scents such as Chanel PMC, Versace l'Homme, Tiffany PM but where the civet and lavander still stay primarily showcased

Jicky plus wonderfull Cedar and spices makes for a great perfume if not particularly showy initially, it took me a few wears to realize how superlative it actually is.

I think the Ungaros were great.
    I find 1 better than 2 and 2 much better than 3.
A shame they discontinued the good ones and reformulated 3
