Completed two wearings of Guerlain Lavande. This one is not listed either on Fragrantica or on Basenotes.

    Note breakdown I found: https://guerlainperfumes.blogspot.co...nde-c1840.html
    Top notes: lemon, bergamot
    Middle notes: lavender, galbanum
Base notes: labdanum, amber, sandalwood, oakmoss and vetiver

The opening I got was a sour like citrus bergamot note, not exactly bright but just barely noticeable. The lavender florals can be immediately detected but it's not as dominating as the name suggests. It has a green like feel to it which may be the presence of the galbanum. I'm not a strong supporter for lavender based scents but I feel this has just the right amount in this composition. The lavender florals and galbanum fades while the oak moss and woods take its place. A nice mossy dry down can be witnessed at this point. There's a little bit of amber that provides a slight resinous feel to the composition. It's a clearly a chypre scent at the dry down - mossy, green, resinous, woody. The performance is excellent overall. It's fairly potent early on before staying staying closer to the skin for the remainder of its duration. I find this to be a very gentleman like scent overall that seemed to have went unnoticed by many.

    Gianfranco Ferre GFF Uomo

Zealot and few others have been talking this one up, and I'm currently exploring scents produced by Diana de Silva based on some conversation in the Vintage Sample Sync. So, here we go.

This is really nice, and totally not what one would expect from a designer in 1997. A green, woody, slightly resinous rose and mixed floral chypre with what seem to be top quality ingredients, as expected from de Silva. It reminds me in some ways of Azzaro Acteur, but less resinous, more herbal/green/soapy, and generally better by a mile, IMO. Maybe Acteur meets Aramis 900, with the quality level of the Aramis.

I think you're one of the big fans on here. I've been giving this a bit of thought. It has a soapy note that is plain, to me. Typical bar soap. Dial. Then under that, is the good stuff. Warmth. Sweet woods. The base purrs with goodness. The soap note is almost misdirection - like a boomerang - it starts by going in the wrong direction, so that when it circles back it seems like an especially clever trick. I'm thinking of it as one for connoisseurs, and fancying myself in the group.
