Yes, the current is good but the vintage is GRRRREAT! No, it doesn’t smell like Frosted Flakes but I had to do it .

Rumba from a mini. An early Jean-Claude Elena collaboration.

This made me laugh - a quote shared by Cook.bot a couple days ago of Jean-Claude in 1973 when he was working on Essence Rare -

This was to be the perfect harmony and assured taste with no audacity,..”

Then along came Rumba in the 80s, so much for taste and no audacity.

Hooray! I think I just figured out how to make smaller photos.

I didn't realize he did Rumba. I have a mini of that too, somewhere, and should give it a try.

Vintage Ô de Lancôme for the Friday sync.

I bought my vintage bottle from a Basenotes vintageur, and when I later tried the new version I could hardly believe how scandalously bad it was. You wouldn't think that a simple citrus/herbal cologne would have to be so maimed in reformulation.

I think it's the oldest I've tried. Some of the Crown Perfumery scents are purportedly older, but the bottles I have weren't produced then, and the formulae may be quite different from the late 19th–early 20th century originals.

Thumbs up Re: Your Vintage SOTD - 2020

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."
