With the latest bottle and samples order, I‘m transitioning to “phase 2”.

Phase 1 was reeeeading, sampling, buying, blind buying, trying out, and setting up all the related computer work - spreadsheets, foto folder, etc. It was important for me to not restrict myself too much at the beginning, but to have fun above all and start to find out what I like. That yielded:

    bottles: 22 (+22)
    samples: 58 (+58)
    backups: 2 (+2, plus 2 minis)

For the next months, plans are to evaluate which bottles might leave me in one way or another, as I only want to keep the stunners. I‘ll also work on my “archive” which contains 1-2 ml of every fragrance that has gone through my hands, in chronolgical order. So, decanting into glas atomizers and stuff, keeping lists up to date, ... Also planning to review every single one, which I already started but have stopped for the moment, since it seems to take a long time for them to appear on the site and I don‘t want to waste time on something that eventually might not get published. Another thing is to look what backup bottles I actually, really, definitely want to have - buying these is allowed. Also thinking about storage and display options.

When I‘m done with these things, back to acquisition phase
    Current Top 10:
    1. Nicolaï - New York Intense
No order: Histoires de Parfums - Noir Patchouli, Tauer - L‘Air du Désert Marocain, Ralph Lauren - Polo, Gucci - Gucci Guilty Absolute pour Homme, Papillon - Anubis, Nicolaï - Patchouli Intense, Puredistance - M, Pascal Morabito - Or Black, Etienne Aigner - No.1 (1975), and 1740, because Basenoters always bend the rules ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have different favorite houses for each category! Rogue Perfumery and Neil Morris are probably my favorite indie houses. Favorite niche houses would be Amouage, Zoologist, and Frederic Malle. Serge Lutens is up there too but I don't own as many by him because I don't like the bell jar format or buying separate spray bottles to decant into. I own one bell jar and am very hesitant to buy another. Favorite designer house is without a doubt Hermes.

I definitely own the most of any house from Neil Morris, though, because he has a much larger collection than most houses. I'd assume there are at least 200 in production still based on all the samples I've tried, perhaps even many more as with each order I get many more samples. There are of course some I'm not that into (either they are nice but not for me, too similar to things I already own, or just contain notes/elements I don't like) but with a catalogue this large there are more in number that are FBW than a house that has, say, 20-30 fragrances in production.

Percentage wise... I probably own the most from Rogue Perfumery or Amouage Woman line, if going by what is available to buy vs how many I own. Zoologist is inching up there too and I'm considering three more purchases as well. If only going by the amount of bottles, I definitely own most by Neil Morris.

Did a 3 for 1 trade, trading a backup Royal Our for Haeckels Pegwell Bay, M Micallef Style and Arpege by Lanvin so I'm back to even on the year, 27 total bottles. Over the last couple weeks I have sold off a ton of decants and samples, which has helped me pare things down a bit...I have a few things that I still want to buy and am running out of things that I want to sell. Quarantine boredom has me buying all sorts of shit lol.

Finished a L'Occitane's Terre de Lumiere mini last week and will finish Arden's Green Tea travel spray tomorrow, so -2 to wardrobe, and got myself JHAG Mad Madame and JPG Classique, so +2 to wardrobe again. Not great, not terrible. Of course there's still lots of stuff I want, but now I'm feeling content and would like to focus on enjoying my scents and draining some more bottles for now. I love having options, but I also don't want to have too much - I feel like 25-35 is my sweet spot, and I'm quite past that already.

Also I got a backup for Les Amoureux de Peynet by Molinard as it's on sale in local perfumery and I already used up half of my 100 ml bottle through the course of one year. I don't see myself getting tired of it. So +1 to backups.

And I got a sample of Ariana Grande's Cloud with this purchase, so also +1 to Samples.

    I started 2020 with:
Wardrobe 37 (including minis and travel sprays)
    Samples 11
    Backups 2 (+4 minis)
My goal this year is -2 in wardrobe and +2/+5 or something along the lines in backups. I have no goals for samples.

    Current wardrobe balance +9 (-15; +24).
    Samples balance: +16 (-5; +21)
    Backups balance: +3

I have not updated much in July so this is what happened to my sampe/decant part of the collection.

The following has increased my collection:
    Xerjoff - Alexandria II
    Sarah Jessica Parker - Stash

    And these are gone:
    Heeley - Cardinal
Calvin Klein - Obsessed for Men
Penhaligon's - Castile (I dropped that one, GRRR)
    JPG - Le Beau

I'm not sure that I updated it on here, but I gave away 2 full bottles - one on Basenotes and one to a friend. I've had another 5 or so bottles come and go this year. At the beginning of the year, I started with 2 full bottles and 1 backup bottle. As it stands now, I have 3 full bottles and 1 backup bottle; but none are what I started with! Net balance: +1
