    Tried a sample last week.
One of the least enjoyable Ouds I've smelled.
Would not buy it for $20 much less its real price.
Own and like Rehab, but as someone who doesn't mind spending $ on Clive or Roja fragrances, Initio is overpriced.

a stunning, beautiful opening that quickly dries down to one of the harshest chemical/synthetic messes i have ever had the misfortune of smelling. the sheer range of this turnaround was dizzying. i went from “i gotta get a full bottle of this” to scrubbing it off in the bathroom in like 45 minutes.

I have a small Luckyscent sample, which I don't think is enough to adequately evaluate OfG. I've tested it twice on my hand and so far it's not my cup of tea. I find it has a sweetness to it that gives me a slight headache. So far the best thing about OfG is the bottle

I’ll be the contrarian here, at least in part. I got a sample from Osvvald while I was visiting NYC. My SO doesn’t like oud, so I used up the remainder on a recent business trip. I found it to have great top notes, a pleasant base, and above-average longevity on me. I wouldn’t buy a full bottle for multiple reasons, but I could see buying a 10ml split for “oud moods”.

It's not a bad fragrance at all.
But I don't get the hype.

It's not mass pleasing at all and has a medicinical and "gunpowdery" quality.

It reminds me much of Parfums de Marly Nisean, which is greener and more centered around the patchouli note. I wouldn't be surprised if both are from the same perfumer (Nisean is made by Nathalie Gracia-Cetto).

I would rather recommend to buy Gucci Oud Intense for half the price - though it hasn't real oud in it it does smell really nice and is appreciated a lot by others (and women too - which is not the case with Oud for Greatness).

I see zero negative comments on Fragrantica ..And lots of comments coming from people who has weird screen names . No way a perfume has zero negative review

Yes, I like it a lot. It's hard not to like if you enjoy warm, sweet fragrances. Opens with a nice medicinal oud note and follows with fruity saffron over a burnt sugar accord not too far removed from BR540. Smells really nice in the little wafts it gives off. Strong proaction and good longevity. 2 to 3 sprays is more than enough.

It is good. Not great. Top and base parts are great. Mid is meh and lasts hours.
I would recommend bit for $1/ml

I think that's a fair assessment. It's not particularly complex or even that craftily handled in terms of how smooth or tightly composed it feels. But it's a very enjoyable smell and a nice combination of notes, and the ingredients are a pretty good quality (not great..but good) and it performs well.

For me, its sweetness can become a little too much, kind of cloying during the mid

It seems to be a heavily shilled fragrance. YouTube reviewers are bathed in free bottles, which is always a red flag for me.

Anyone know if Initio and Parfums de Marly are related at all? Seems they both grease up YouTube reviewers in equal measure.

Until the recent comments directly above, I was under the impression they were owned by the same parent company. And after smelling Carlisle (PdM) and Blessed Baraka (Initio), I was pretty confident that this was true. By themselves they’re pretty unique scents, yet they smell nearly identical to each other with slightly different proportions. Their other fragrances are mostly different but there’s quite a few similarities in general between the brands.

I think the niche segment is headed toward the same problem designer houses were facing before they developed their prive lines. Trying to sell the same types of fragrances under different names in a calculated, lazy, cost saving way. These entrepreneurs are creating an illusion of choice. “Would you like PdM or Initio sir? Why not both?” But the whole time it’s just the same group of people trying to get our money twice.

Distributors tend to be more important than the owners when it comes to these mid-size ventures and they can overlap too. The owners are merely a combination of hands-off investors and the brains of the business model and there will be separate companies listed even if the same people are behind each house. The role of Distributors can overlap with ownership functions and often include selection of perfumers, packaging suppliers and marketing strategy. My point being, we are likely to see more of these PDM-esque houses proliferate as they gain traction and begin to squeeze the niche market. The problem being that they are going to be trying to sell us the same fragrance styles over and over, coming from the same group of people without much artistry and limited cultural capital.

There are more Niche brands than designers anymore. Niche got to the point where they can't create a perfume that doesn't smell like 100's of other perfume.
I see the trend in the future where they going to try to get the mainstream perfume audience by releasing mass-market perfumes that smell like the ones you can buy at department stores. Killian is already doing that with that line they sell at Sephora

That's been happening for a while. PdM exists by copying designer tropes, so does Roja Dove.

Not the greatest thread to discuss/speculate on future trends. The wealth of selection these days is amazing. The shilling, conflict-of-interest influencing a la YouTubers and general naivete of enthusiasts who don't realize they've been had with their $300/50 mL purchases, not so much.

I personally don't think that Carlisle and Blessed Baraka are similar.
However Parfums de Marly and Initio share some of the same perfumers, who obviously may use the same ingredients or aroma chemicals from the same companies like Firmenich.

Wasn't blown away by first spray. But like 30 minutes later, I was like what is that? That smells really nice actually.
So definitely let it warm up and open before being unimpressed like I was initially.
Wore for a few days, and now really enjoy it. This is dark, dry, sexy, manly, not my number one, but a very nice oud. Wearing it all the time now. Now we just need Armaf to clone it and then it will be a proper legend.

I'll wait for premier avenue to carry this . Most initio cost 150 dollars in Europe . Wouldnt buy them in The states due to mark up the high end department stores put on Niche perfumes
