Some might conflate those stars with rank on the forum, hence the desire to "pad" them, or validity of their posts/membership on the site. Then again, when people like Luca Turin, Sarah McCartney, or Reynaud Salmon have accounts here (and barely post), how many stars they have means nothing in regards to where they stand. XD
Ok. I never thought about stars as conveying some sort of rank but that makes total sense now that you mention it. I just noticed early on that some of the most informed members post very infrequently, and never considered relating the two.

But what I’ve always wondered is why can’t I get a nifty little tag line below my name? I noticed that when some members get a certain number of stars it might say something like “UserNameX: Dependent” or “JoeShmoe: Basenotes Institution.”

(To further detail the thread)....Any idea what causes those tag lines to appear? Is it something a member can manually edit?

EDIT: Case in point: Danny Mitchell (directly above) has “Dependent” below his name. What makes those appear?

I think this started sometime around 2012. Those who joined in 2011 or earlier don't have this. I think when this was rolled out (my guess would be sometime in 2012), they didn't apply it to existing members. Just my guess.

Actually they did. If you view base notes profiles on Archive.org from 2011 and earlier individuals will have those titles.

From May 2011 onwards, the titles don't go away.

AFAIK this is only available to Basenotes Plus members. I joined in October 2012 so I think I’ve got the standard issue title.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.

No, just couldn't remember for how long, think a few days. I was innocent, of course, but it's the internet, people obviously can't be fully aware of my angelic nature without having met me.

Isn't it great when you find a particular fragrance you like so much you can't stop wearing it!

According to my wardrobe, today was my tenth wearing of current Habit Rouge edt.

It's actually probably more than ten (twenty or thirty maybe) because I always forget to log my sotd.

    Thank you all!

I’m going to see if I can get this to work.

EDIT: It looks like I can’t. There’s no option available to me when I go to that spot in my settings. At least the mystery has been solved! I’ve always wondered what’s up with those interesting little tag lines...
